Zamir White (RB Georgia)

It's to the point, that, like with the FSU recruit from last year (already forgot his name) where we are getting guys like Zeus to the spring game and it's not his first trip.....you just have to be happy to ALWAYS be in the game with these elite guys. You won't land them all, but when you are almost always in the running it's about as much as you can hope for.

With Zeus, I think we have a real shot. I see it as a 3 horse race. I see 1a UGA, 1b Clemson and 2 tOSU.

Land of 10 (free) -- "The Fab 5: Jackson Carman and Anthony Cook and the 5-star Battles Ohio State Can Win"

Thought this was a really interesting quip by Birm today... (good article)

Zamir White | RB | Scotland County (Laurinburg, N.C.) | National Rank: 5 | Position Rank: 1
While Georgia remains the favorite to land Zamir White, people close to his recruitment continue to beat a drum that is at least encouraging for Ohio State: the Buckeyes are the program that he prefers.

However, Ohio State does not appear to be the school his mother prefers, and that’s where things get messy. For the Buckeyes to pull off this coup, White’s mom must come on board. And they need to move fast with their courtship. White has said he will announce his college decision on his mother’s birthday, June 27.

The odds are low that White chooses against her on her birthday. Meyer and running backs coach Tony Alford must get to work on understanding why she apparently favors the Bulldogs over the Buckeyes.

While the conventional wisdom here suggests Georgia, Andrew Ellis over at 11W continues to believe the Buckeyes are in the thick of things. He even put in a CB for the good guys yesterday. I remain skeptical.

And right after he put in that crystal ball pick 247sports uploaded an article from Zamir's mom and she basically said distance from home is the most important factor in his recruiting.

Zamir's Mother:
In the end, Shanee feels that a significant factor in Zamir's decision will be distance to home.

"I think it is going to be about family," Shanee said. "Zamir likes to be around his family. He is a momma's boy. I think it is going to boil down to can momma get to me or not."

Can't fault that thinking. My mom said I couldn't leave Ohio when I was looking at college. So I became a Buckeye.

Not at all. It's easy for people to say "let the kid make his own decision." But then are the same people who say "who cares what recruits think, they're just kids. They like shiny things," when it comes to the jersey discussion.

As much as the kid is the one going off to school, it's still a family decision.

I saw this article as well and wondered why Ellis would put a CB for OSU. It sounds good, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. I've already penciled him to anyone but OSU at this point and am looking for more insight on RBs like Tavion Thomas and Master Teague, and seeing what Ohio kids could earn an offer. A self professed "mama's boy", who's mom said that distance will okay a factor, doesn't bode well for a school in Columbus, OH
