if you haven’t noticed Ohio State seems as focused on character as they do ability. I, for one, like it this way and can do without the drama queens and troublemakers.

There are quality 5* RB’s that dont carry baggage too. I understand your point. My ask isn’t for Evans or even Knighton......just surprised with our depth chart, on top of what JK just produced, we don’t have elite RB’s beating our door down. It’s kind of odd to me....just being honest.

Just a reminder: Mo Clarett was both of these, and without him we don't have the Tressel NC.

Some troublemakers are worth the headaches, some aren't. Randy Moss was, Johnny Manziel was definitely not. (And more aren't, for sure.)

You're crazy about
Manziel. For what A&M was to what they became after him, he was definitely worth the risk for them, and their tier of school.
Schools who dont have a long winning tradition or schools who have tradition but arent winning recently will always take a risk like an Evan's and not look back. Sanctions or suspensions be damned(i.e ole miss, Tenn, etc)

They had one good year with him then reverted back to a 7-5 program. I suppose he helped with recruiting but Sumlin failed to capitalize. I see your point though

Yeah, I was thinking at the pro level. But you're right about aTm.

It's been a while, but I don't recall Clarett having major character issues in high school.

his HS coach flat out said he’d have no issues on the field but off the field he might not be ready.

I don’t recall any specific reported incidents but the guy who knew him best knew he was very immature and underdeveloped emotionally due to his background.

Which is different than what you see sometimes where a kid has so many red flags or handlers with their hands out that most programs just don’t want to deal with him.

like most things, it’s a risk/reward analysis.
