1995 - Babbages (now Gamestop)

Kinda funny, all my friends were so envious, because I got to sell games, computer software, etc, sign out anything I wanted for a day, dress up in a shirt and tie. Now that I look back, was way overrated, but you'll have that.

Ditto. And it took me about 10 years to get over the nightmares I had of being late on the paper route. I never missed a day and was never late so never understood the nightmares. Guess the anxiety musta been there. Loved those Christmas tips.

First hourly wage job was as a busboy at Bonanza Steak House. I owe Bonanza for my taste in steaks today: filet, med. rare, preferably good enough to forego steak sauce, but if I must...Heinz 57. (That other xit tastes like what I'd expect dirty dishwater to taste like.)

^^^ Paperboy as well... Not a bad gig at all minus the collecting. Knocking on doors to collect money sucked because people would always act like they were not home... Kind of like when JW's coming knocking on doors...Turn out the lights and Shut Up!!!!! :biggrin:

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo as a guest services associate. I got the privilege to work at the wolf cabin my first year, made a couple friends, one of which is a very good friend of mine. Got to dress up in old style frontier outfits everyday, look at wolves play and beat each other up, eat free food from the vendors, and play peek-a-boo with two tiny screech owls who lived in the cabin. The little owls were my favorite. I wanted to steal one of them. After the first year, it progressively got worse and worse. They stuck me on parking lot duty during free day Monday's when everybody and their brother in Cuyahoga County decided to take a trip to the zoo. Those were the days. Having the scum of Cleveland bitch at you because they had to park in a seperate lot, not the lot reserved for handicapped people and pregnant women, witnessing fights in line for the tram, missing children...it was a zoo, haaaaaaardy har har.

My dad owned his own carryout/drive thru from '74 until '04. I was only 6 or 7 years old at the time, but when he went in at night to close up, he would take me with him to work. I'd get a nickel a bag for bagging ice, or $2 to rotate the stock in the cooler.

$10+ a week bought a ton of baseball cards and comic books in 1981.

Having a dad that would let me stay up until 11:30 on a school night rocked even more, though! :biggrin:

Wow. I completeley forgot the three months I spent as a "volunteer" paperboy for the Newark Aggravate.

I actually had this one duplex where the neighbor, everytime I would try and collect, tell me they moved! I tried explaining to the dickweed that I went to school with the daughter of the people I was trying to collect from. I'd see her get dropped off at school, every morning in the same vehicle that would be parked at the house when I was trying to collect! I told my circulation manager (or whatever the hell they were called) about it and asked if I should stop delivery because they hadn't paid. I was told NO! Then, they took the $8.45 OUT OF MY PAY!

I ended up making no money for the three months I delivered the paper. They actually SENT ME A BILL.
