YOUR 2016 Cleveland Indians Thread (American League CHAMPS!)

How could the Indians not offer Lucroy the starting job in 2017!?! Are they off their rockers??? He is top 2-3 in all of baseball. Wow.

Brewers fans seem pretty evenly split on happy and pissed this didn't go through. Some thought the deal we got back wasn't close to enough and others thought the catcher coming back was equal to the other names thrown around, at least from the GM 's perspective.

I was "meh" on the whole deal anyway. Thought we should get more but more upset at Lucroy for saying he wanted a trade to a winner and then turning it down. Yep, it was his right via contract no trade deal but he said he wanted to play for a winner. This was his chance and he vetoed it. Still can't believe the Indians wouldnt' guarantee Lucroy the starting spot. Your GM must be a complete tool to think you have better options next year.

Oh yeah, and it is Cleveland's problem to make Lucroy accept his deal not Milwaukee. How the f can Milwaukee convince Lucroy he will be the starter - uh..hellllooo!?!?!

I think Cleveland needed this deal more than Milwaukee but I thought it could have been good for both. Oh well. Fuck the mets offer - it's garbage. We need to hold and trade in winter or take the comp pick.

What kind of professional athlete is so insecure that he has to be promised to be a starter next year? If he's good enough, that won't be a question. If he's not good enough, any such promise has no value. The starter promise crap by Lucry is a smoke screen for what really was going on. Either for some reason he hated the idea of playing in Cleveland or his agents overplayed a money grab.

Why would you guarantee anyone anything? Knowing the Indians luck theyd assure him the world and hed come out and hit .220. That being said its foolish to think the Indians would actually give up that much prospect in a deal to have him ride the bench next year. It would had also been foolish for the Indians to give uo what they are offering and getting rid of his option basically making him a 2 month rental.

Its definitely a money grab, thats why he wanted the option gone so he could be a free agent and go out and get big money, which the Indians more than likely would not provide next year. Which is fine I understand that but at least admit it dont come out with some lame excuse.

Lulz. Now he's gonna get traded to a team with out a no trade clause, get nothing and the Brewers will get less. Trading in winter gets you shit.

I am disappoint. Lucroy is a major plus bat at a position of need. Could have really used a .300 guy with some pop in the middle of the order. Plus it could have spared us the Gomes/Giminez/Perez gaggle fuck. I guess if Nap, Naq, Kip, Pinkman, and Frankie keep hitting like this, it won't be a killer. But we have two major black holes in the lineup at C and 3B, and those are two positions championship competitors typically get production from.

I think we overpaid for Miller, too. That was a serious haul for a relief pitcher. Time will ultimately tell by how these guys pan ojt for the Jankees, but I was fond of Frazier.

For once I have to disagree with you regarding the Indians. Miller is a proven MLB player and none of the guys that we gave up have played one game in the majors. They are all prospects and the Indians chances to win something are in the next couple years while we still have our starting pitchers under contract. It does not bother me one bit that Miller is a relief pitcher. I do not know how many games Allen might have blown over the next couple years and he probably will start a chance to blow a couple.

On another note, is it possible for someone to shove a goat up Lucroy's ass.

For what it's worth, I get why they made the deal. They NEED bullpen help in the worst way, and Miller has been one of the best over the past 2-3 years. It was just a lot to me, but I guess it's a seller's market. Go back 6-7 years when we were dealing Cliff Lee, a Cy-Young winner and front of the rotation guy, and we (arguably) got a less impressive haul for him...though Carrasco has come around after it looked like he was on his way to being a bust. Here was that return...

SP- Carrasco: started slow, fought injuries, was moved to the pen for a while, but has emerged since about mid-2014.
SP- Jason Knapp: Was, at the time, considered perhaps the prize of the deal, despite coming off a serious arm injury; flamed out in Single-A.
INF- Jason Donald: Middling prospect, spent a couple of seasons on the I-71 shuttle. Never amounted to much more than a light-hitting utility infielder.
C- "Sweet" Lou Marson: Another middling prospect; couldn't hit a lick, batting .217 over parts of 5 seasons with the Tribe.

And we're ready for Lucroy if/when he makes another appearance at the Jake...

I guess what I do not understand isn't there a team that is selling right now who has a catcher that is right-handed and is batting around .260 that would take a prospect or something that the Indians would put together for their catcher. If we do not get a catcher, we desperately need an outfielder so Ramirez can come in and play third base. My hopes on Brantley getting better are not high.

Indians are pushing hard for Beltran apparently. Pretty good postseason experience (.332 AVG .441 OBP 16 HR in 52 games) and hes hitting .304 with 22 HR on the season so far. Hopefully they wouldnt give up too much though seeing that hes pretty much old as fuck

And they acquire Brandon Guyer from the Rays...... guy cant hit RHP (.196 in 148 AB) but is hitting .344 against LHP (68 AB). Almonte gone? Guyer can play all 3 OF spots. No top 30 prospects went in the trade so thats always nice.
