YOUR 2016 Cleveland Indians Thread (American League CHAMPS!)

the lucroy deal is good. cleveland has been dangling mejia for a while now. there are rumors that he's been a headache at every stop and his current output is not sustainable, therefore, they are selling high on him. Chang will never sniff middle infield here, and center field is held down pretty wellwith naquin, so allen isn't necessary to hold on to.

the package for miller stings a little, but given the current state of the indians, you can swallow it. overall, decent job of selling high on some guys and using players at blocked positions to sweeten the deal. also, lucroy is minimal napoli insurance if he walks in the offseason.

Edit: The Cubs front office must be pretty upset, as the yankees definitely got more for Chapman, who is going to walk in the offseason, than they did for a guy with 2.5 years of club control.
Yeah.. all this. Lucroy deal is fair. Overpaying for Miller at least a little.

But if it all comes out like the rumors I'm very OK with it. The clear picture is they want a 2-3 year window to contend and they are acting like it. What naquin is doing makes the Frazier thing a little easier to swallow. And it's clear they need to reduce Shaw's load...

I don't know how much more the return for Chapman was.

Chapman = MLB bullpen arm and a top 25 prospect that is still in A ball

Miller = near MLB ready top 25 OF prospect and top 100 pitcher still in A ball

Not sure of any of the other throw in guys but as far as the core of the two deals I don't see a huge discrepancy when you factor in time till impact.

With the years of control over Miller, still seems like the Cubbies paid more.

Very pumped.....

With Naquin and Brantley in the OF, there was only spot for one more between Frazier and Zimmer. Zimmer is the more 'all around' player but it's flipping a coin at this point. Miller is a huge arm, the game just shortened for us....have Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar throw for 7 in the playoffs and then hand off to Miller and Allen and call it a day.

Lucroy is a huge get - Meija is a guy who is insanely talented....and a headcase. You won't find anyone to say a good thing about him off the field; he was recently held from play during his hit streak for off the field reasons so I don't think they'll miss him. Sheffield had great potential either as a middle to end of the rotation guy or even a bullpen arm, but we kept McKenzie who I'd rather keep. No love lost with Greg Allen and Chang....Allen is 23 and just starting AA...Chang could have potential but where? We have Kipnis, Lindor....Yandy Diaz for 3rd hopefully.

We dealt from depth and filled our holes.....'uge.

now that I'm looking at it closer, the two other guys for Miller are near MLB ready power bullpen arms with good numbers

I think that extra control of Miller was paid for by 3 guys who will be ready to potentially help the MLB club next year

Chapman got them a big time prospect that hasn't cleared the all important AA barrier yet.

Dunno. Time will tell.

I like what the Tribe has done though. Paid dearly but made opened themselves a very nice little window.
