It's really a difficult decision, in my opinion. Being a Texans and Titans fan, I hope that the Texans draft Reggie Bush, and then the Titans obviously need to find a future heir to McNair, and this year would be a really good year to choose out of all the QB's in the draft. Cutler is a really good option, as well. However, he never really played in any big games, and you don't know how good his composure is until he plays in a big game. Vince Young is an exciting, human highlight-reel, but his passing game is still suspect (in my opinion), and I'm not sure how effective it would be in the NFL. Vince Young would more than likely generate bigger crowds at the games. However, Matt Leinart is not as much of a gamble, and he would certainly mesh with Norm Chow, his former offensive coordinator. I'm just assuming that the first quarterback will be drafted by the Titans.

So, my view is that if you want immediate success, then you go with Leinart, and if you're willing to take a few years and polish your QB's skills, then Young might be the better option.

I was very biased two months ago, and wanted to see Young in a Titans jersey, but now I realize that Leinart has a better chance of being a better, more effective NFL QB. Whoever is chosen, I won't be disappointed, either way. However, Matt Leinart is the better quarterback, in my opinion, and seems to have all the qualities a successful NFL QB needs, in order to be successful.

If you were the Titans, would you trade down a few spots, get a few veteran players or more draft picks, and then pick up Cutler later on in the Top 10 or 12?

Young's upside is much stronger than Leinart. Leinart is another Ken Dorsey benefiting from Carson Palmer. Just look at the talent surrounding Leinart compared to Young. He had arguably the top receiver with Jarrett two first round running backs one of which is the number one pick and then at least two offensive linemen that are first round. Young beat OSU (one of our best defenses ever in the Shoe and USC in their backyard on the biggest stage with every D coordinator knowing they need to just stop him. There is no one that compares to this guy and the only thing they can pick on is his arm throwing motion. The NFL has seen QB's of his size. They have also seen QB's that run like him. They have not seen them put together however and therefore have no way to judge his talent.

both are surrounded with talent. People who said that about Leinart didn't understand just how special the USC offensive personnel was.

For all the talk about Leinart playing in a 'pro system', I'm not convinced he's spent much time facing enough DL pressure to prepare him for the NFL. He's been knocked silly a few times this year, and it showed. Obviously I'm jumping to conclusions based on limited viewing.

Protect him and give him some weapons, and I think he could excel. Plop him onto a meager team with a high draft pick, and he is going to have serious issues IMO (lack of mobility, toughness?).

VY doing better than expected in the 06 season will pave the way for TS in the 07 draft.

Personally, I think Quinn would become the best QB in this class (in terms of performance) had he declared for the draft.

People said Leinart was going to be exposed without Mike Williams. All he did was go and win the Heisman and lead his team to an undefeated season and MNC.

Good point. We thought Leinart was the overrated one, but it turns out that it was Williams:

Hard to judge a wide recievers talent when you have Joey Harrington throwing him the ball. :wink2:

Not to be a dick, but that was a shitty pass. When they were breaking down Leinarts game, they used that play as an example of why hes overrated. That was not a well thrown ball. They said that if he threw that in the NFL it wouldve been intercepted.

I agree that it wasnt a great pass, but he still exposed the defense by calling the audible and getting the pass completed.

If Vince Young played for USC, and Matt Leinart played for Texas, USC would have won the Rose Bowl in a rout.

No. If Vince Young had to play against the Texas defense, he would not have pushed them over as easily as he did with USC's defense. Leinart would have had a field day against the USC defense, because Texas still has a great offensive line and skill position players for him to work with.

Defense was the difference maker in the game, and while Vince Young would have still succeeded against either unit, it would have been a total different story if the tables were turned.
