Over 4 years later these two met up in a preseason game last night. In many respects this debate seems like much to do about nothing given their NFL careers, so far.

Which one would you take NOW, assuming you were forced to choose one of them?

Young. Leinart might be a bigger turd than Quinn and is probably going to lose the job to Anderson.

I'd take Young any day over a lot of QB's. He just finds a way to win. I believe he has one of the highest winning percentages among the QB's (67%) to play at Tennessee. I could be wrong considering I got the stat from ESPN during last nights game.

Leinhart looked awful last night. Loved his excuse in the post game interview. "Well, they blitzed me every play."

Oh OK, because when the regular season starts we know they'll all drop to a soft 3-man under prevent zone all game.

I don't like the Steelers, but I'd like to see Dick LeBeau turned loose to dial up 60 minutes to fuck this dude up REAL bad.

Leinart is as bad or worse than Quinn. Take a look at the 2005 ND/USC game. Throw out the BS "Schematic Advantage." Throw out the fact that the Bush Push no longer is relevant and the game has been stricken from the history books because of the "scandal." Leinart had the better defense, had a better O-line, and had better talent around him in general. ND had their stars, but Darius Walker wasn't in the same league as Reggie Bush. The receivers for both teams were pretty good, but USC still has the edge.
When it came down to the final drive, Quinn lead his team down the field and punched the TD in himself, his biggest mistake was leaving enough time on the clock and not accounting for PAC-10 refs. Leinart needed 3 attempts to rush in, a push, and the refs to overlook a time-out being called that USC didn't have.
Ultimately, with that O-line, how did Leinart not find a hole in or around the porous ND defense? He benefitted well from USC's golden years, and it's entertaining watching him trying to adjust since entering the NFL.

I still love this:

Young has actually progressed a fair amount since he was drafted. Leinart looks worse than he did when he was drafted. Young is a playmaker, and if he can be a bit more consistent throwing the ball.. he'll be a pain in the ass to play against. Add Chris Johnson to the mix and that's a pretty interesting offense.

I remember when I wanted the 49ers to draft Leinart because I thought he'd be better than Alex Smith, but Leinart stayed in school. I hated Smith (kinda still do - I liked Aaron Rodgers more than Smith even back then). Never thought I'd say this, but Smith over Leinart turned out to be a good thing.

I don't want either one. I don't want Leinart for many of the reasons already listed above. I don't want Young because he's proven to have a number of issues off the field. I wouldn't be sure I could trust him if I were an NFL GM.
