Dr. Saturday regularly gets pub from and is quoted by mgoblog. That's all I need to say when it comes to how far off base your conclusion is that Dr. Saturday made "a very fair assessment of the situation."

Let's hope he's never been quoted, linked, or reposted on 11W then. Cause if he has, you're conclusion is pretty empty.

Just a minor point on the argument by Millilani, and others, that the NCAA was going to tack additional penalties onto whatever OSU self-imposed, "no matter what". That's clearly not true. To take an extreme, hypothetical example, if OSU had self-imposed a ten-year bowl ban, the NCAA would not have imposed additional penalties. Obviously, that would be an excessive self-imposed penalty. It's just an example to illustrate that the argument that the NCAA was going to "+1" OSU no matter what is a false oversimplification. The real question is, what would have been the minimally stringent self-imposed penalty that would have satisfied the NCAA, or perhaps more specific to the point, would a one-year bowl ban instituted this year have satisfied the NCAA? My guess is it wouldn't have, but nobody knows that for sure, certainly not based on a theory that no self-imposed penalty could have possibly satisfied the NCAA.

Overall, I think OH8ch had a good post-op. It's done; only thing that matters now is whether, or to what extent, it will affect this year's recruiting.

Hinton is one of those dudes who will look for any reason to take a shot at Ohio State. I first noticed it after we lost the second game to USC and he wrote that "grizzly death of tresselball" article. He has written a few more hit-pieces over the years so this doesn't really surprise me.

The article is completely slanted against Ohio State. It's full of mis-characterizations, generalizations and 'devil-words' associated with anything Ohio State. It seems that the hate tOSU media has framed the issue of tOSU penalties vs. USC penalties as one of # of people involved and completely ignores $'s involved or any other details of the infractions or how the investigations took place.

Or as Kyle put it "The article is full of shit."

Surprised in some sense with the early results of a poll from Wednesday's "Dan Patrick Show". Just surprised people would want NCAA sanctions.

http://www.danpatrick.com/

Poll Questions is: Urban Meyer w/ NCAA sanctions or Jim Tressel w/o NCAA sanctions.
The two choices in that poll don't really make any sense to me. Because it offers i) a choice which is objectively bad from a pro-OSU standpoint, or ii) a choice that is either good or indifferent from a pro-OSU standpoint. It's like saying, "would you rather have me i) kick you in the nuts, or ii) give your friend a candy bar". I agree it's bizarre that 2/3 of respondents picked "kick me in the nuts" (except that it was probably answered predominantly by people who wish OSU ill, and chose accordingly), but the question doesn't make sense. Unless the assumption was that OSU fans would be feeling vindictive toward Tressel and want to see him pay, even more than they want to see the program have the maximum possible success. In which case, whoever wrote the poll doesn't know much about OSU fans (or sports fans in general).

Anyone who brings a tool like Hooley, who claims to be an Ohio State Analyst, on his show deserves no attention.

I think he did that because Hooley was associated with FOX Sports at the time. I think he switched to Tim May of the Columbus Dispatch now for OSU information.
