OK, help me out here, somebody--You have players that you've been told are involved in drug trafficking, and under investigation by the FBI, and you don't sit them? But, when they trade tats for rings, you suspend them?
I am SO confused. Ow, my head...

No. The Tattoo parlor was involved in the drug trafficking. They players didn't nothing criminally wrong (as opposed to NCAA wrong)

Gator, we get it.

Feeling hurt for JT and for the University is the primary response here. I'm sure that the intelligent people on this board KNOW what the facts are and the consequences they elicit. I don't really think you're helping anything by continuously playing the "reality check" card.
Makes sense sloopy. Hard to take off the counsel hat. Occupational hazard. I get you, and I was not trying to pile on. Just - as you say - give the non-scarlet and grey view. Too early perhaps. No offense intended.

JT was specifically asked by an attorney, the attorney that sent the emails, to keep them completely confidential.

So, fuck the NCAA. Twice.

No he wasn't specifically asked for confidentiality, but yes, that's an incredibly tough position to be placed. JT owned to it like a man, he'll take his punishment like a man, and he will be a better man for this.

GO BUCKS!!!

I hate to tell you this, but some dickwad attorney saying "blah blah keep it quiet" does not trump NCAA rules. Which is why Tress committed a "Major violation".

Which is insane. There's a reason very little has come out in regards to Cam Newton in the last 8 months. It's called interfering an investigation.

A few very important details need to be cleared up:

1. Did the e-mail state that the Buckeye items found in the home were known to be sold by the players?

2. Was he told to keep it confidential?

3. Did the e-mail specifically relay information that meant players were breaking NCAA rules?

Which gains you what in the bigger scheme of things? SEC coaches and ADs now piling on when they might not have? Not a positive gain. Small mis-step in my book, with the only "gain" being from folks who are already all-in on the Bucks.

It gains us nothing. It made ME feel better though.

I missed this, what did he say?

I was watching but it was so painful I guess i was trying to block it out, paraphrase what he said?

Essentially Gene Smith made a statement that the process in place of self-reporting things was unlike the nature of other schools and organizations.

It was AWESOME

I'm pretty sure I heard JT say that an email from the attorney did request confidentiality.

Seems like the error was JT not going to tOSU's legal folks about the situation despite that request, to see if he should talk to his AD and/or compliance people after he got the email(s).

Well, this is obviously something that's not just going to fade away.

Gonna be an ongoing discussion until, during and most likely shortly after the season.

I have a feeling a lot of bloodthirsty "analysts", fans and University officials will be coming out of the woodwork with their comments on the situation and how awful of a scenario everything is simply because they are disappointed that the damage done was technical. Quite frankly, I could see this as a double edged recruiting tool. The smears will sway a few, but the man in the vest himself will sway a few more.
