The bowl ban is total BS. Can you tell me that the NCAA didn't have this planned out or what? IMO, they purposely held out until AFTER OSU accepted their bowl bid. Screw it, tell the Gator Bowl they won't be coming down to JAX. Pisses me off to no end!:smash:

Gene Smith can be fired now. Total mismanagement of the situation from the get go. Dumb ass!!

If there's a 1-year bowl ban, tOSU should just back out of the Gator Bowl right now, and say, "OK we've accepted our bowl ban".

Agreed. There's a reason OSU wanted a decision before Bowl Selections...

I still don't believe this. Why was OSU assured there would be no bowl ban, accept a bid to the Gator Bowl, and now they're changing their minds??? Punishing players who weren't even involved with this shit?? GTFoutta here NCAA.

unbelievable!!!!!!! If you are going to impose a bowl ban why not this year? Keep them out of the Gator Bowl. Make the players who were involved pay for their mistakes, not future players. OSU is trying to turn the page and yet the NCAA wants this to continueto linger. What a joke.

LOL at Gene not self imposing the bowl ban on this 6-6 team because he was so confident that there would be no bowl ban.
Acutally, it was smart, because if he self-imposed a one-year bowl ban, the NCAA would've tacked on another year like they did tacking on additional schollie reductions. So, now we only have a one-year ban...

It's for next year...
If the NCAA didn't drag their fucking feet, we could've imposed the bowl ban this year. It's like they waited until we were commited to a shitty fucking bowl and then said, "Ha ha, mother fuckers, now we're gonna hit you with a bowl ban."

So long Gene, better luck elsewhere.

This. GS's one (alleged) saving grace was that he was soooo plugged into the ncaa that he had to know exactly what we were getting. He was the ncaa insider, yet here we are as the first school ever to get a bowl ban for failure to monitor. Turns out he was as competent in this realm as in everything else.

362 days of utter mismanagement and comically inept crisis management, and that's all that I'm going say because I don't feel like a two week vacation.

Back out of the Gator Bowl this year, tell the NCAA we're taking the bowl ban this year. If they bitch and moan about it, firebomb their offices.

Agreed. I don't see how they wouldn't accept it. It ONLY makes sense to impose the ban on this year, not next year.

Does our contract with the Gator Bowl have an out clause for this type of situation? Tickets have already been sold, merchandise has been made, and other bowl eligible teams have already signed on with other bowl games. I doubt we'd back out unless we had an out clause.
