I had naively stated that because OSU cooperated with the ncaa, it wouldn't get slapped as hard. Boy was I wrong!!! We'd been better off to dig our heels in and not cooperate. Nothing on Oregon, Boise St., or Miami. Why? Cause they told the ncaa to get lost!!!!! This crap stinks!!!!!! I am pissed!!! Screw the corrupt ncaa.

I don't think there is anything that would prevent the NCAA from waiting until the B1G championship game (if OSU is not in it) to announce a post-season ban. However, I expect we will hear from them in the next week. :(

I just want to get it over with, whatever it is.

It would be so awesome to play in the B1G champ game and win it. Matt Hayes said before the season that we wouldn't be a factor. I think Ohio State will handle the next 2 games. That game in A2 will be really interesting for the first time in a long time.

My question was more if the punishment were handed down so late in the season, would they still apply it to 2011? Have there been times when a postseason ban has been levied weeks before the postseason has started?

Also, I understand that a postseason ban isn't a forgone conclusion - and have read that some insiders even say it is not likely to happen (sorry if this should stay in the RM). And I'd much rather have it happen in 11 than 12. for both fairness (punishes the guilty players) and benefit to the program (one less issue our 2012 coach faces, whoever that may be)

Edit: As to the bolded in your quote. I would be ECSTATIC is we heard from them next week, but I find that doubtful.

Again not be a glass half full guy, but if the resolution to this is the loss of 5 total ships over 3 years, we are getting off easy. We almost never have a full complement of 85 most years and with this we say we are going to carry 84 one year and 83 the other two. A walk on or two won't be getting a free ride ship. Oh the horror.

That may not be completely meaningless, but it's close.

Someone helped me cool my jets. I know it could be worse, but I haven't been able to keep up on the other schools in question. But, I have tried to keep current on the Bucks. I guess, thanks for letting me vent a little.

I was thinking more along the lines that most bowl bids don't go out until the first week of Dec anyway. For sure, OSU needs to know if they are eligible when those bids go out, earlier if they earn their way to the B1G champ game.

The NCAA is such a screwy org that we should probably be prepared for them to bring it at the worst possible time.

No problem, when I read the Dispatch piece I was a little bent as well. The idea that this would last till March that was presented in that article caused me allot of concern. But then I read some other news sources and found out OSU was requesting the NCAA expedite the process.

I know I am counting on Gene Smith getting the penalty for these offenses correct and that may be foolish, but he did get them right with the Tatgate stuff so maybe we will be out of this soon.

Probably should've added a self-imposed post season ban to the scholarships. We will be bowl eligible this weekend and looking at next season, I'd rather lose this years bowl vs a possible BCS bowl next season, not to mention the other issues with recruiting, coaching etc.

Obviously I'd rather not see a post season ban but the heads in this situation have been garbage the entire time. Smith, Gee and whomever else has been involved in the decision making need to hit the bricks.
