10tv has been pissed off at the university since the Big Ten network came to town. Before the Big Ten Network, 10th would get the first couple of games that did not get picked up on a national level as part of the espn+ or what ever they use to call it. Once Big Ten Network showed up they lost a huge revenue stream for a few saturdays in the fall.

The Wolf Brothers, now John Wolf I guess, have/has long had a turf war with the university.

The Battelle/OSU economic engine often gets in the way of how Wolf wants to run the city.

The physicians at the Med School have a voice in who gets on hospital boards of directors -- at one point in time there was a Wolf or a Wolf relative on every hospital board in southeast Ohio-- and this leads to clashes.

The liberal political voice is counter to his. Open housing, free speech, Cold War and censorship were issues where the two sides clashed long and loud throughout the 50s, 60s and 70s.

The school remembers when open enrollment and dorm complexes were forced on it, and its status as the flagship university undermined by Jim Rhodes - hand picked and heavily supported by the Wolfs and the Dispatch/WBNS - and the former president of Miami, John D. Millett - a Wolf brothers political appointment to chair the higher education commission. The Miami president succeeding Millett, Phillip Shriver, continued to create degree programs and expanded campuses to the detriment of OSU.

You can't draw up an in-10/20/30-year plan for Coumbus/Franklin County/Ohio and leave the bright folks from OSU out and then the plan gets away from Wolf's ideas of how city/county/state growth should run.

OSU football was one thing the Brothers/Dispatch/WBNS liked about the place, especially because the football program clashed so often with the elements of the school the Wolfs detested.

BMV releases 65 page report saying that the dealers paperwork accurately reflects the sales prices of the cars. Not sure what that means....but it isn't bad news at least.

The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles said on Tuesday that its investigation of Ohio State football players' car purchases found no evidence players received improper deals. The agency undertook its review following allegations that two Columbus-area dealers sold vehicles to Ohio State athletes and family members at below market rates.

start the clock ticking....i think ESPN had the negative news reported by 10tv on their main page in under 26 minutes.

current college football story on the main page:

"4 BCS confrences paid commisioners 1 million dollars"

That is hard hitting journalism right there. An extrememly profitable entity paying a top executive ONE MILLION DOLLARS (dr. evil voice).

Wow!!! So this means an even wider cover up - right?

Has anybody been keeping score on exactly what allegations have been true and what hasn't since this thing broke in December?

I'm curious to know what the team batting average is so far between SI, ESPN, Yahoo, Kirk Herbstreit, Bruce Hooley, 10TV, the Dispatch, Sports By Brooks, etc.

Yes. The corruption at Ohio State is HUGE and touches every facet of Ohio state politics. Just wait until the Dept of Agriculture/Division of Weights and Measures gets called in to verify players' 40 times on the track at the WHAC.

This shit runs deep. Everybody knows our players can't actually be as fast as they're timed.

I am still a little worried about the report though. The BMV said that the cars were paid in full, but does it mention who paid for them? If the players did pay for them, everyone will just end up saying that the boosters gave them money to buy them. I'm afraid that we are far from the bottom of the car dealings.

Paid in full through loans. Thad Gibson still making payments on his car to the bank.

No amount of evidence will deter people from assuming the worst, which is why Dohrmann ran with so many vague details about OSU from anonymous sources.
