I don't understand this.

There are at least 75 other kids on that team that need our support more than ever, and have done nothing to not deserve it, compliance be damned.

because it is impossible for all this crap to have been going on without the athletic department's tacit approval. yes, i understand that not everyone is guilty. and yes, i may be throwing the baby out with the bathwater at this point. but as far as i am concerned, this attitude of non-compliance has been systemic. and morally, i just can't support it. simply put, i'm disgusted.

i'm also fairly confident that i will be able to root for them by the time the season opens. so, basically, i'm just taking the summer off.

thought the MoC interview was interesting. There isn't a system in place for free stuff/cash to fall into your lap. But if you go out and look for it, you will find it without much of a problem.
What he said about C-Bus is true... The whole city is an Ohio State booster, for the most part... It doesn't surprise me one bit that a guy like Mo can walk into a local Wendy's and eat for free, or if he needs a car some dealer is willing to work a choice deal, etc.. and as he said, it need not have the least little bit to do with Ohio State the institution.

Some people want to buy players to soothe their own egos (Troy Smith's payor's issue) and some people just think they're being "nice" or "cool" when they run into a player. It's a way of saying "thanks" to the commoner, and not an inducement. Doesn't mean it's not an NCAA violation, just saying it doesn't mean it's a systematic Ohio State failure.

As I said in my post to Tlangs... it's also a Columbus issue (I say also because I don't intend that OSU should be off the hook)... it's a fan issue.. it's not all Gene Smith or any of the current players.

I have to say that I am very impressed with his interview. He finally "gets it". And I think that what he says it true about the manner in which stuff becomes available. He absolutely stated that no institutionalized cheating - no facilitating the way in which improper benefits were provided to athletes - was done by tOSU staff.

Because you did not have to, a cynic might say. But you sure as hell are not SMU. And Tressel did have a tremendous positive effect on his life, there is no denying that. I wish him the best.

Perhaps in 8 years that is how most of us will view another former Buckeye.

i don't disagree with that. but there had to be SOMEONE in the athletic department, who was scratching their head and saying 'wait a minute, here...'

or maybe not...

Say what you will about Mo C and how things went down to end his career, but "Fake Buckeye" he is not.

IT may have taken a little extra time, but he's moving closer to "Success story" in my opinion.... and it's not related to football.
I agree BKB.
