Kind of hard to keep things 'in house' when he's making phone calls to personnel outside of "the house" (OSU program) about this issues.

The biggest flaw to your statement is that Tressel signed a paper saying nothing wrong is going on at Ohio State while at the same time knowingly covering up major violations amongst his players.

Its one thing to handle it in house - its another to blatantly lie to the NCAA.

but did JT know violations occured...or did he just know that some guy who emailed him claims that violations occured :)

If he resigned, I think it would be something that would be beneficial to both the university and to JT. Colorado had to pay out the ear hole to the Zen Master, and ND had to pay out the earhole for Weis. I just can't see the university just washing their hands of the guy who has made them dominant over such a long period of time.

Particularly when the last coaching termination ended up costing the University a ton of additional money in litigation.

It will stand....

I don't know about that, it will stand only if the NCAA decides to, when the NCAA made that decision it was based that the NCAA found out at the sametime OSU knew about the players issues. Since JT knew about these issues, that may come off the table now.

First, we are not going to vacate wins foremost because the 6 players returned and are serving their punishment prospectively rather than retroactively. Second, and bear with the corny sound of this, the NCAA knows that JT did not (do/refrain from doing) his (misdeeds/obligations) to gain a competitve advantage. In their notice to OSU the NCAA specifically requests that OSU explain WHY they put ineligible players on the field. I believe they will get a compelling reason.

Of course JT did this to gain a competitive advantage. How can you say he didn't?

Now see, that's one of the things that is surprising to hear, because here and other parts of the country (as if it matters), people believe that he's the biggest media darling and walks on water there locally.

What does he do that perceieved as 'arrogant'? I mean, I was a coach and I must say, all coaches are arrogant to some extent, LOL.

The program was wide open to the media...practices, players, etc before JT. He put everything on serious lockdown which absolutely pissed off the locals.

Well that just makes sense. Why be happy that your local team is having probably the best run in the history of the program when you can gripe about not being able to cover it? Good thing to be mad about.

Watching this thing grow has been a sickening, morbid circus of media outlets taking slow revenge against JT for his years of being unfriendly to media in access and a smartass in pressers.

Isn't this a commentary on how the media treats every public figure? The media are a business, in business to sell us the news. When the news is that Jim Tressel (or any other person in the public eye) is good, or successful, or worthy, or however they want to sell it, they'll pump us so full of sunshine and happiness that we can't help but read the story/watch the clip/listen to the blurb.

Then, just when they've got him built up as high as he can get, that's when they tear him down, and every ugly thing - real or perceived - comes out about him. They do this to everyone - every president in the modern TV era, every celebrity from LiLo to J-Lo, every athlete from Babe Ruth to LeBron James, every singer, every actor.... everyone.

As long as there's a media, this cycle of building up and tearing down will continue, not because of the media but because society "buys" this kind of news. Tressel is just the latest grist for the mill.

Welllllll.......open practices can result in some....difficulties?

I'd ban the media in a heart beat and face the backlash later. They are overboard because everybody wants to be the first to break a story.

NCAA = Kettle. Calling everybody black.

WASHINGTON -- Nine of the 11 members of an NCAA panel that will help decide the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl's fate attended a bowl-sponsored retreat that included free meals, resort rooms and golf outings.

The nine names all showed up on a 2008 "Fiesta Frolic" attendee list obtained by Playoff PAC. The group, which advocates switching to a playoff system to determine a national college football champion, shared the list with The Associated Press.

The panel is scheduled to meet with Fiesta Bowl officials this week in New
Orleans, but won't make a decision until later this spring. The NCAA has the authority to revoke the bowl's license.

An internal report by the bowl last month detailed widespread lavish and inappropriate spending, leading to the firing of CEO and president John Junker.

And how do you think they're going to rule? LOL - the NCAA are a bunch of P.I.M.P.S, lol

Oh, good Lord! Don't post anything about Callahan! GAAAH! :hatepc:

Cally, The Vision, and The Voice. Those three made Nebraska football.....irrelevant.

And Rose was on THE station. Hell, they even locked out other local media outlets other than Rose's (KFAB) here from interviewing current players and coaches!

Is it the same there? Can players/coaches be interviewed by other local media outlets there?

This whole situation just sucks. It doesn't matter what happens now, the public image for tOSU and JT will solely be based on this. As a team, and as fans of the program, all we can do hope for the best and press on and continue winning. I will continue to support our program through all this.

I have no clue. In fact, the majority of players that want to get to the next level want to get there co they can pay for and see plenty of beads, beer, and titties, LOL. They'd be helping them to fulfill a life long dream of 'makin it raiiiiin'.
