I know that I am in the minority when it comes to this entire situation but you are exactly correct. There is no other way to put it except for the fact that Coach Tressel flat out lied to gain a competitive edge. In my mind, there is no other way to put it.

That's opinion. You could also put it that he had concern for his players and was trying to handle it 'in house' as in on the football team.

We could all speculate, but the one fact is nobody will know what will happen until August 12th. I can only hope for the best for JT until then.

Overall, I'm numb and have been that way since the Sugar Bowl.

Watching this thing grow has been a sickening, morbid circus of media outlets taking slow revenge against JT for his years of being unfriendly to media in access and a smartass in pressers. He had the image of near perfection and the media, especially the local media, is enjoying grinding every shard of that shattered image into dust.

He signed the paper. There is no defense for that.

I'm a homer, I love JT and what he has built but this will be tough to escape.

The lack of preparation for the initial presser is now an albatross.

That's my biggest question. They knew the players were ineligible at that point, if I'm remembering correctly here.

1) They were serving this suspensions before all the information had come out, correct? And they're serving a five game suspension even though they were ineligible all year.
2) And the NCAA can't assume that a coach had the best intentions while essentially lying to them. As much as I love Tressel, I can't even assume that at this point.

They were serving the suspension pending appeal at the time Tressel info came out in March. However, Tressel's actions with respect to his role in the Bellisari, Clarett, and Smith suspensions are directly at odds with his actions/inactions in this matter. I believe that there is an explanation that has nothing to do with winning games. I believe that the portion of the NCAA's notice to Ohio State that requests of Ohio State an explanation as to why those players were allowed to play is neither boilerplate nor random. Time will tell.

Do you think we'll be able to call JT our coach after this season?

If there is one thing we know for sure about Coach Tressel, it's that he has that unique ability to win, against all odds and in the least interesting way possible. I'd say that if he's our coach next year, it would be against all odds and in a way that did not interest me whatsoever. :p But I'd still be happy to have him.

Trust me, JT is not a popular guy amongst the local media. The Columbus Dispatch's FOI request will be a slow combing of everything

Now see, that's one of the things that is surprising to hear, because here and other parts of the country (as if it matters), people believe that he's the biggest media darling and walks on water there locally.

What does he do that perceieved as 'arrogant'? I mean, I was a coach and I must say, all coaches are arrogant to some extent, LOL.

For starters....He never actually answers a question.

Kind of hard to keep things 'in house' when he's making phone calls to personnel outside of "the house" (OSU program) about this issues.

The biggest flaw to your statement is that Tressel signed a paper saying nothing wrong is going on at Ohio State while at the same time knowingly covering up major violations amongst his players.

Its one thing to handle it in house - its another to blatantly lie to the NCAA.

I really don't know. The way the administration has separated themselves recently is disturbing...and knowing JT, he will resign before he sees damage done to the University.

If he resigned, I think it would be something that would be beneficial to both the university and to JT. Colorado had to pay out the ear hole to the Zen Master, and ND had to pay out the earhole for Weis. I just can't see the university just washing their hands of the guy who has made them dominant over such a long period of time.

Why do people feel OSU will vacate wins? IMO, that's absurd. The players involved are sitting for the next 5 games and the NCAA has already stated that penalty won't change. If you are saying they vacate wins, then you are adding to their penalty by saying they should have sat out additional games. Also, I don't see that anything has actually changed. The NCAA had to send a notice of allegations once they received OSU's self report. Everything in that self report was known to OSU when they punished JT in the first place.

The wins will be given up by OSU shortly IMO. They were achieved by kids who weren't punished when they should have been. That's the issue.
