I dont think all punishment is in the public forum. I am fairly certain that there were other punishments dealt out of view of the public. Not speculating that they were appropriate or not but it has been standard operating procedure to do some things inside the team to administer punishment. (Ray Small)

What he said...

Plus, saying "all they got is a 5 game suspension" is ignoring the fact that they received a stiff penalty. Why add more...

One, neither of those posts make the "Tressel asked, they lied, he took their word for it" theory any more plausible. Again, it suggests Tressel is naive. I find that hard to believe.

Two, I didn't "ignore" any such fact. You took a portion of my post out of context and implied it was about the same thing. It was not.

Someday this thread will serve its purpose and prove Jake's point.

Until then, us poor laymen will continue posting in vain.

THE HORROR! :roll2:

Allow me to be blunt: please stop posting inaccurate statements in this thread. That may be harsh, but I just posted something that should have prevented somebody from making a post like yours.

If the violations had been uncovered and reported last summer, the players would likely have received 4 games last year (that's what A.J. Green got at Georgia, per NCAA guidelines for a very similar violation). That's been stated numerous times in this thread.

The NCAA would have been informed, and the reasons would have been made public; it wouldn't have been treated as a 'violation of team rules'.

Again, GPA.

So at this point, new facts are welcome, but ongoing speculation and rehashing of things that have been talked about for the last couple of weeks, not so much.

I'll be honest - I've grown tired of moderating this thread, which has become a train wreck on multiple occasions. So at this point, new facts are welcome, but ongoing speculation and rehashing of things that have been talked about for the last couple of weeks, not so much.

Agreed. I think we should shut this sucker down until new facts come to light, the school takes additional action, or the NCAA makes a ruling. Otherwise, it's just the same ol' shit over and over...

I was listening to the local sports talk radio on the way home (same guys run the orangebloods site). They were interviewing Brooks from sportsbybrooks i guess. After talking about HBO & Auburn (note a former UT football player was cohosting saying everyone shoulda kept their mouths shut, makes me wonder what he's hidding) they ask him,
"whats something that kinda off the radar that your following"
. His response
"well its being covered by the major media but its the OSU story". "what happened at ohio state is worse than what happened at Auburn and at USC" "Tressel needs to resign" "Gee and Smith are backing Tressel so the NCAA will bring the hammer down"
Yes he seriously said this was worse than what happened at USC & Auburn, I guess if you deny your speaking the truth...He was "out in La to cover that story" and in Columbus "to cover the OSU story" what a load of [Mark May].. yea know sometimes i hate bloggers.
at this point Chad (regular host)
"well fans who went to the game know about those fans they like to fight and burn things"
...
back to this brooks character
"Ohio State could( he mighta said will) be smashed into oblivion"

some parts are direct quotes, some are paraphrases.. but you get the gist of it... am i missing something.. does anyone have any proof that all of this information didn't get sent to the NCAA. sometimes I want to call in and ask these guys wtf seriously, but i know its not worth arguing with low IQ people.

if they post the interview in their audio vault which they probably will later or tomorrow i'll post the link for everyone to listen.
http://www.espnaustin.com/audiovault/

its posted now.. should be one of the first links.
PS. just saw some jock sniffs from the morning show including a dude who grew up in NE ohio interview Bruce Hooley after he was [Mark May]canned. wow i need to find something better to listen to on the way home... Thank god for NPR
