who knows....maybe because it was the guy that accompanied TP on all his visits. A guy that TPs parents trusted with thier son. A guy that TP goes to for advice and has known for many years. Maybe JT thought that TPs mentor could figure out what was going on [/scarlet glasses]

So, as I read the story, this businesman guy is a mentor to Pryor?
Wow. I have no idea on what to say with that one.

Are Pryor's parents seperated or something? Why would they have some guy who is a businessman be their son's advisor? Looks real strange to me, but I'm a fan of another program.

These ARE serious questions, btw.

Pryor didn't even live with his parents in high school.

Never mind - I found a couple of links.

So - Prior moved in with his God Father, his parents haven't been together since his junior high years, and he had freaking Charlie Batch with him on recruiting trips?!?

I also don't think this changes anything, other than putting it back into the news cycle again.

After the press conference, most of us thought that the emails were forwarded to somebody. The fact that they were sent to somebody outside tOSU doesn't make the fact that JT didn't notify the AD or the compliance department any worse. It certainly indicates that he took them seriously, and would seem to eliminate any possibility that he just treated them as coming from an unrealiable source and ignored them.

It makes the theory that JT was taking the fall for either the AD or the compliance department less likely, which is a good thing as far as the reputation of the Athletic Department is concerned.

OK, after making the rounds this morning, the narrative that is emerging is that this does indeed make things worse.

Tressel was concerned enough about it to forward the info to TP's mentor - meaning he took the info seriously and debunking the idea that he was protecting a federal investigation, and corroborating the idea that he deliberately hid the info from the administration.

Whatever the truth is, it looks bad.

not really the whole story but a snippet:

The father lives in West Newton, Pa., in the Yough school district. Pryor's mother, Thomasina Pryor, lives in Johnstown, Pa. They split up when Pryor was in junior high.

"We have two other children, and we work very hard even though we're apart," says Thomasina. "We've still got to raise our kids. We're together spiritually."

In eighth grade, Pryor moved with his mother to West Mifflin, Pa., but missed his friends in Jeannette. At the start of ninth grade, he moved back to Jeannette to live with his godfather, Willie Burns through his high school years.

"We talk every day, or every other day, football or anything," says Pryor's dad. "I like to know what's getting into."

The parents and Burns stress education. Pryor has a 3.3 grade point average.

Yeah, Tlangs, that's the link I was reading. I was also reading another link that talked about Charlie Batch.

The same Charlie Batch that back in December of this last year, had to file Bankruptcy because he owed a bunch of money. Ouch.

So, basically, by not turning in Pryor for what he did, Coach Tressel may have further let this kid down.

Sad state of affairs. Many coaches are guilty of it, but it's extremely disappointing to see someone held in such high regard in the national community of coaches do it.

Until we can read the actual emails I don't think there's much benefit in speculating.

1. This is JT trying to shake loose SOMETHING because Pryor stonewalled when he was confronted.

none of that is new. Batch was very visible during the recruiting process.

Yeah, I see now he's quasi-related to prior.

This situation is so unfortunated. Sorry to say, but at this point, it's going to take some walking-on-water type stuff for JT to keep his job.

I think I read somewhere that of the last group of coaches that got slapped with an Unethical Conduct charge from the NCAA, only one kept their job.

I'll do a bit of research on that one....

If no new violations come to light, JT will definitely keep his job. OSU already knows what he did and gave him a vote of confidence and stated he will be the coach. This email to TPs mentor is not a violation. It is backstory that OSU brass already new about and was taken into account when they decided not to fire him.

Per Ken Gordon at the dispatch...."OSU and the NCAA obviously already knew this"

Cool. When you're finished with that, maybe you could do some research on the size of the guy's wang who's boning my wife.

I bet the 2 guys that lost their job had more losses than wins and the one that kept his job had more wins than losses.

Running a guy like JT out of town for covering up guys selling their personal property would totally push me to the dark side. Go rogue. No self reporting. Stall everything. Don't cooperate. Seems to work out for everyone else.

That's the funny thing that I just looked at - they're not all major sport coaches.

Mind you, I'm not comparing what JT did to any of these other cases.

First, the obvious ones:
Bruce Pearl - Tennessee Mens BB Coach
Jim O'Brien - tOSU Basketball Coach

Now, the not so obvious ones:

Kathy Bull - Ball State Tennis Coach

Mike Seabolt - West Virginia Men's Soccer Coach

Dustin Ashby - University of Missouri - St. Louis Golf Coach

Jim Harrick (Twice) - UCLA/UGA Head Basketball Coach

Jan van Breda Kolff - St. Bonaventure BB Coach

(he was cleared of wrongdoing, but still lost his job)

Cheryl Littlejohn - University of Minnesota head Women's BB Coach

Billy Brewer - University of Mississippi head Football Coach

Pat Murphy - Arizona State BB Head Coach

The only person who has ever gone up against the NCAA and won -

Rich Daly - University of Missouri ASSISTANT Coach

Only reason why he won? He had an alibi.
