Especially after the Clarret and Troy Smith scandals. I dunno, I'm having a VERY hard time buying that Tressel knew about this since April and didn't do anything about it.

Exactly. The only thing Coach Tressel gets by sweeping this under the rug is keeping the national title hopes for the 2010 season alive since the five players would still be eligible. Do any of you honestly thinks he would do this? I will be blown away in the coming days if this is even true.

We'd all be surprised. We all are.

But I'd be equally surprised if someone wasn't in the wrong. I just don't think it's Coach Tressel.

How would TV ratings affect Yahoo?

And you don't stay a reputable news source very long by breaking garbage stories. It's just a terrible idea all-around. I think people who think nothing is wrong here are being very naive. Just my opinion, obviously, and I really hope I'm wrong. I'd be very happy to be wrong.

You're right that Yahoo does not generate TV ratings but I was just trying to make a point about the general media. Like I said, hope this is not true.

Warning: TIC to follow. Sarcasm font in full force.

How about this to stir the pot...An article on this AM's workout (written by Marcus Hartman @ Buckeyesports) says JT had EL speak to the media in his place. Conspiracy theory 101.

"Director of football performance Eric Lichter, to whom head coach Jim Tressel ceded the field for interviews when the activities were over, said he looks for the players to exhibit toughness"

Is JT hiding from the media already? (Please see aforementioned warning)

It doesn't make sense why they would break a story that is such a monster, and then recycle all the crap about Pryor's tickets in on the end. It's peanuts in comparison.

Well, the fact that TP has been pulled over three times driving three different cars belonging to the same salesman could be seen as a potential monster as well.

Fair enough.

I'm just going to leave it with saying that I hope I'm wrong. I hope Yahoo is just being irresponsible.

Had nothing to do with the tickets, only the fact that he was in a rental car at the time he got the tickets. Same stuff was brought up soon after the original tat thing came up, alluding to the fact he might be getting improper benefits.

Anyway, this whole thing sucks and I hope it is being presented as something much bigger than it really is in order to garner hits to the story. I am going to bed and going to see what the university says about all of this tomorrow.

This just reasserts the universally known sentiment that everybody hates a winner. We have been the best and most consistent program the past decade and any hater would bite at any chance to further degrade this prestigious program that we have seen flourish year in and year out.

My honest take on this whole situation is that the players are at fault. I feel that they covered up their actions, like most scared, immature student-athletes would do. It's just truly a shame that they're metaphorically crucifying these players for actions that took place over a season ago, as Pryor, Posey, Herron, Adams, and Thomas have all shown great maturation throughout this difficult ordeal.

It really sounds like there may be a big problem at hands, and these journalists are just going to let the tension gradually accumulate until, oh, I don't know, say 1:30pm tomorrow, when there is no news on SportsCenter. Then, some grundle licker from ESPN will leak even more unenviable news that was relayed from some other nimrod.

I want to say that I have "faith" in Tressel's conscientious demeanor, as he has demonstrated great character and leadership at the university throughout his ten-year tenure. However, the fact of the matter is that we just don't know what happened. Go figure that some [censored]stick leaked this story in the late PM, and is leaving frantic fans' minds to aimlessly wonder about the "what if's." So unfortunately, speculation will only result in even more unneeded tension and stress. Get some sleep, folks. I know it'll be difficult for most of you and me, but what's been done is done. I [censored]ing love this university and no matter what happens, we'll still be Buckeyes.
