XBox 360, PS3 or Wii? ( ESPN on 360 for TWC)

Honestly, the PS3 online play is not that bad at all and I'd much rather deal with the very few times I get kicked off and the minor lag here and there than dish out $50 a year. But whatever this thread isn't about which consoles better... its about splinter cell, the game looks sweet, but I'll be spending my next $50 that I don't pay for online service towards getting Red Dead Redemption, which is the game I'm more interested in between the two anyways.

Minor lag would be a dealbreaker for battlefield.

I like how this is bold, like that's a lot. :tongue2:

It's like 7.3 cents per day.
I like how it's bold like it's accurate. When I'm lucky I buy my 12 month cards for 24-27, otherwise I, and most other 360 users, buy the 29.99 year cards.

I'm sure there are some idiots who pay full price, just like those who pay inflated retail prices for DVDs, groceries, and bp's secret forum.

Giant eagle and costco. Nothing too secretive. When I have a family I might check out those places that sell you a ton of meal supplies for like 20-30. They started it as an outreach for financially strapped folks, but they let anyone buy, since it helps lower their costs. Right now too much of it would go to waste.

Giant eagle has some great prices if you are careful and patient. The regular price is 3.99 or more for 12 packs of pop, but if you wait, you'll find regular sales for 4 for 10, 11 or 12... with occasional sales for 4 for 8. The fuel and gas perks are nice over a long haul, especially if you are paying with a rewards card.

You can probably find a better price on deli meat, but I choose them out of convenience. However, their generic maple ham smokes the premium stuff.

Coatco takes some planning and research to find the right stuff. The potstickers, meat other than deli (not a fan of their cold cuts), cheese, fruits n veggies, dogfood are very well priced. Don't get their cinnamon toast crunch though, it's like they ship a different version than the normal stuff at grocery stores. There are some things that are useless for single or double person kitchens, like the army base sized condiments or candy (besides Halloween).

It's worth the price for groceries, and the bonus savings on glasses, occasional gadgets, etc is well worth the 50/year fee. then there is the incredible return policy and great samples (that are satisfying at the store and you don't regret buying when you get home, unlike many samples).

As long as you have the dry and cold storage to keep everything until it's used up.

Giant Eagle for cheaper groceries??? You're on crack, my friend. :p

(Cheap groceries start and end with Aldi.)

If you or anyone you know is looking for a Wii, (or need a Mother's Day gift, I guess) Toys R Us is running a promo where you get back a $50 TRU gift card at checkout upon purchasing a Wii. This is an in-store offer only, valid until 5/8/10. TRU also is a running a deal where you get a free game up to $29.99 value with purchase of a DSLite or DSi. I believe the DS offer is good through the 15th.

Definitely avoid GameSpot for systems. They are a ripoff.

Where do you recommend instead? I bought a refurbished old Xbox 4 years ago and got tons of enjoyment out of it with no problems. However, if I overpaid - I'd like to know the better place to shop!

1) always shop on Slickdeals.net first, search by title for whatever you are buying, so in this case 360 console not only will you find deals but you can get a feel for the frequency of past deals and gauge how good the existing one is

Case in point:
Xbox 360 Arcade + 50 GC $130 at Target B&M - SlickDeals.net Forums

You would have to add a hard drive but that is a great deal.

2) I was warning him about the lousy trade in values gamestop gives you, particularly for his 360 console.

3) if you are ok paying retail, Costco offers a lifetime warranty. If anything happens to my console, I walk in and get a refund for every dime I spent, then can rebuy the console right then or go buy 300 bucks worth of peanut butter and toilet paper.

Sounds like a sticky situation.
