XBox 360, PS3 or Wii? ( ESPN on 360 for TWC)

Nice. After seeing all of the new blu-ray players coming out that stream Netflix out of the box, I figured it was just a matter of time. I didn't want to have to buy a wireless adapter for my 360 and then have to move it to our living room just to try this (especially when I already have a PS3 in that room). I will likely have to get a Netflix subscription once this starts.
I setup my PS3 to stream HD video, from my computer to my TV, several months ago, and ended up just moving back to the room with the router because of the piss poor performance. That could be due to two reasons though.
  1. PS3 only uses 802.11g, or lower, for wireless and that's not good enough for HD streaming.
  2. My Linksys router is crap when it comes to wireless internet.
Probably both, but this thread on AVSforums.com says that playing HD content on ANY wireless is going to cause some headaches.

Good to know. I guess I'll have to drill another hole through the floor yet. I was hoping to avoid that.

I got the netflix disc for PS3 last week, and there's good news and bad news. The bad news is that Josh is right, and netflix doesn't have very many HD titles that are available for streaming. That's also the good news. I haven't had to run a 50 ft. ethernet cable to my PS3, because 802.11g seems to stream 420p content just fine. I've watched half of Dexter Season 2, and another several hours of other video that I would have had to wait on. All while still receiving, watching, and returning any DVDs that I have in my queue.

Anyone looking for a deal on 46"+ Sony LCD and a PS3 should look at Best Buy (compliments of slickdeals.net).

The actual deal from a regular store, instead of online, is better. With this bundle you can get a new TV, a PS3, a PS3 game (choose from 3 options), and a Blu-Ray movie (choose from 3 options) all for hundreds less than the cost of the TV itself.

How it works:
They start by discounting the price of the TV by several hundreds of dollars. Then they cut the price of the PS3 in half ($149.99, but they don't do this online). Then they give the game and movie for free (they charge full price for these items online).

I purchased the KDL-46W5100 TV and everything ended up around $1,165.00 including taxes (7.75% tax rate).

The deal runs through 12/5.

I really hope this thing makes it to market. I'm sure Microsoft will find some way to make it not work though.

FWIW, I finally decided to pony up on a system. Got a flashed XBOX 360 120GB (yes, I know it's excessive), and five games to start out with (Halo ODST, Red Faction, NFS Shift, Modern Warfare 2, and Ice Age 3 [for my daughter]). I'm not partial to online game; thus, it works out great for me. Enjoyed MW2, but it was over quickly. NFS Shift is providing me a LOT of fun as well. My daughter LOVES Ice Age 3. Eventually, I'd like to get all the games on my modded Xbox over to it, but I don't know if that will be possible.
