WR Torrance Gibson (Green Bay Blizzard)

Probably not a popular opinion, but I like the University going AGAINST the football coach. I'd rather see them err on the side of caution (assuming the female issue is in fact the cause) all the while shedding any perception of an authoritarian football coach.
You probably should get all the facts first before going against Meyer when it deals with female-related issues. There's a huge difference between the university "erring on the side of caution" and going full-retard knee-jerk reaction...

Torrance will have his opportunity to come back and can still be a major contributor to the program.
I wouldn't count 100% on that...

I do not think so because he will be out of school for at least this semester because he has been charged with a violation of the student code of conduct. That means if he came back next year he would be a Jr. because they burnt his redshirt year last year.

A lot out of posters should wait until the facts come out because there is a lot of speculation that I have read..

I am going SOLELY on what was said by the trusted @wadc45, that's all. I didn't speculate any further.

I do believe if it is in fact something that he can either disprove/come out clean, then I still think he can bounce back. You only need one really good year to make yourself a lot of money when you're someone with his type of athleticism/measurables.

Just my opinion.

Re: Ohio State announced on Monday that redshirt freshman wide receiver Torrance Gibson has been suspended from the University for the 2016 fall semester for a violation of the University's student code of conduct.
http://theozone.net/Ohio-State/Football/2016/News/Torrance-Gibson-Suspended-for-2016-Fall-Semester

Is he suspended just from playing football or is he basically kicked out of school for the fall semester? It sounds to me like he is kicked out of school, which is far worse than just not being permitted to play football.

FWIW, here is a link to the General Information: Student Code of Conduct....

The actual "code of student conduct": http://studentlife.osu.edu/csc/

As far as I understand a player has 10 semesters to be on the team for 5 seasons (4 eligible +1 redshirt). If true, he would still have for more years, right?

Semester 1 & 2 = redshirt year
Semester 3 - Spring of 2017
Semester 4 & 5 = RS Fresh
Semester 6 & 7 = RS Soph
Semester 8 & 9 = RS Jr.
Semester 10 = Fall of RS Sr.

Don't think Urban should be publicly disputing a university decision. Accept the decision and move on. It does, however, highlight that this isn't Ped State, and the University doesn't allow foosball players to be exempt from normal University disciplinary channels regardless of how successful the coach is.

Could be trying to keep Torrance from transferring by showing him some public loyalty.

I was thinking the same, not about transferring just a general show of loyalty to his player and players family. Other players and families will notice that.

No issues at all with Urban saying he disagrees but will comply and I really like the school being in charge of it's foosball team as opposed to the Tallahassee model.

Dollars to donuts Urb is smart enough to have voiced his opinion internally and discussed his in-media statement with the university prior to doing so. If it's what I've read it to be, I have to agree with Urb that I disagree with the punishment. That said, this is another good example of an item (again, if what I've read it to be) that needs to go on the list of things I share with my son.

"If the speculation is true then I hope Gibson sues OSU. Absolute BS"

Exactly. As should Damon Webb.
Universities have tipped the scales too far.
If a female makes an accusation you are now punished post haste, while details are sorted out later at a snails pace.
You are guilty until proven innocent and have that black mark the rest of your life.
This isn't just an OSU issue, it spans the entire country.

Michigan should accuse the entire front 7 of fondling a cheerleader.

I'm giving Urban the benefit of the doubt here. Knowing his stern policy on behavior towards women (and how it has been enforced strictly), I just don't think he'd step out like this to back up a player unless he thought the player was being wronged.
