WR Torrance Gibson (Green Bay Blizzard)

The real irony here is I just had to sit through my Title IX seminar at OSU last night.

Title IX does not govern just sexual violence. It also applies to sexual harassment and the fact is the victim is the one who can basically define what is harassment. And like with hazing the perpetrator does not have to be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. They only have to be proven to the point that a reasonable person would think the actions are inappropriate.

Sorry but nothing I've read so far warrants a suspension from the school. Looks like it involves a picture taken of the female tutor that may or may not have been taken on her phone. She also may or may not have been a little bit upset that he wasn't committing to her. Just another case of males being treated unfairly in sexual conduct cases. This is a kid that needs to be in school and our beacons of education are kicking them to the curve. Terrible.

Yep and the complainant may not be the targeted victim of the harassment. Complaint could come literally from anyone that overheard or saw actions they perceived as harassment even if the intended victim didn't think so. Crazy

At the same time, a huge majority of people manage to make it through college without having issues. In this, like everything else, the football players clearly need to be extra careful due to the spotlight on them.

Not to sound like a 'kids today' comment, but kids today would be well advised to put a piece of duct tape over the damn lens of their cameras.

Statement may, or may not apply to this individual.

What are Torrance's options for continuing to play football? If he is readmitted next semester back to tOSU, he could conceivably play as early as a January bowl game. Or, since he didn't play in a game this fall and assuming released from his scholarship, he could sit out this year and transfer to another D1 school next fall. Correct?

Exactly. Probably not a good idea to do anything other then thank them for their help with their studies. How could he see this coming i know but those are the things you avoid all together in the NCAA.

Athletes just need to keep their head down, party at home, put their phones down, and respect women and with UFM/OSU you should have no issues.

I agree...Let's turn the tables. Let's say a female student getting tutored by a male has a pic of said male's dick on her phone. I highly doubt the female student gets suspended. Instead, they will be asking the male tutor why he had his pants down in the first place. So, my question is, why are they not asking the tutor how TG got the pic in the first place?

If this didn't involve a tutor that went to or worked at OSU, I wonder if he would be suspended at all....And 1 whole semester seems like an overkill in my mind....Just crazy how DUI's, slapping a girl at a club, smoking weed, skipping class will warrant a game(s) suspension...not a whole semester

She would if she had a complaint filed against her through the official University system of reporting and there was sufficient evidence supporting the complaint.

I don't understand stand how evidence is obtained in a Student Code of Conduct complaint. Surely Gibson wouldn't just hand over his phone, but I assume he could give his statement or story and that could be used against him.

I'm not standing up for anyone in the situation because I don't have all the fax and evidents, and apparently those that do have different opinions regarding how those relate to rules in place.
