WR Torrance Gibson (Green Bay Blizzard)

I find it quite interesting that JT Barrett and Torrance Gibson had almost identical numbers their junior years. If OSU were to get Gibson as a Buckeye, the competition for QB will be extremely interesting between very similar athletes playing QB, as both need seasoning at the QB position but both have very high ceilings in Urban/Herman offense.
Gibson has to also look at the weapons that Urban and staff has brought in and is bringing to play around him, and has to think that he could thrive.

I believe he set the date as October 20th or so. Is Gibson graduating early does anyone know?

If he does select tosu then I suspect he will be used his freshman year much like Tebow was his freshman year just differently of course. Lots of simple read option plays and quick pass plays with built in Qb designed runs other than power runs

Yep I agree. Honestly yes I want him in s&g but if we don't land him I will be ok with it too because I can certainly see the risk here. If he does commit to a team I hope he sticks with that decision regardless of who it is.

What risk do you mean? And he's not committing until after his official visits and after his senior season. I can see him sticking to his commitment and then recruiting for his committed school. I think too much has been made a big deal about his visits and lists. OSU has always been around and favored to him, he just need to visit and experience Our atmosphere firsthand. As well as see the coach's vision for him in our offense.

He likes the attention so it's hard to see his true feelings on a possible choice. He could easily flip over night. So, this isn't the end or even near end of his recruitment or the attached drama.

If I had to bet I'd guess either Tennessee or Auburn is where he ends up.

I appologize for insinuating.

Let's see if I can clear this up- I think every time Gibson has visited or will visit Tennessee or Auburn over the next six months someone is going to give him or promise him money. I hope Ohio State is not doing the same and if they are that they don't get caught.

I don't think that negatively reflects on Gibson's character- free money is free money andI don't hold it against the kids for accepting, and if Gibson isn't accepting even better for him.

My hope is that these players make their money on the SEC circuit if they choose to and then make the college decision that is best for them.

I don't think the money has anything to do with why this recruitment is going to go down to the wire.

Gibson is an elite football player that is going to be recruited by some of the best football programs in the country. He is going to have a tough decision to make and it won't be finalized until he signs on a dotted line.

Most of these kids probably don't start out "on the take". But, we now know that what was going on in college basketball for years has filtered into college football. The "bagman" is a factor now. The SEC teams probably all have a "bagman" working for them! And other teams can become just a pawn in the "negotiation" games. That may have happened to us already this year.
Who knows what will be the deciding factor for Gibson? He loves all his "list" visits. but, we shouldn't get too "invested" in what one kid does.
It just is common sense.
