WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

He does pretty well in his dealings with the press. Most of us would have had trouble putting a couple of sentences together when a microphone got put in front of our face when we were that age. Hell, I have trouble putting sentences together in front of a keyboard, and I have time to think about what I'm saying.

I hope he keeps giving the press all kinds of football reasons to want to talk to him, and that he keeps saying and doing the right things, which I believe he will.

Kepp making us proud, Teddy!

I actually had an argument with a Miami fan over Ginn being a better return man than Miami's Devin Hester is. He did admit that Ginn was the better player, but still said that Hester was the better return man, even when I showed the punt return stats, in which Ginn had 4 less returns but more yards, averaged over 7 more yards than Hester did, and scored 4 TD's to Hester's 3.

You haven't figured out that you can't tell a Miami fan anything?

Good call. Facts just get in the way of their beliefs.
Cryami fans can now use these opinions from CFBNEWS.com's preview of Miami. It will be interesting to see how they descibe Teddy in the tOSU preview, and see if they contradict themselves.

From Pete Fiutak:

- CB Devin Hester, Jr. - 20 tackles, 4 interceptions, 5 broken up passes ... One of the most electrifying players in college football, Hester has been begged to see more time at receiver to go along with being the best kick returner in college football. But from day one he said he wanted to be a big-time cornerback and will quickly be one of the most feared corners in the game if he can hold down a starting spot. Consistency has been his problem early on and he needs a lot of work. The lightning fast junior picked off four passes last year despite playing half the time in the secondary.

From John Harris, as part of the same preview:

A preview on Miami football wouldn’t be complete without mention of the most exciting player east of the Mississippi – Mr. Devin Hester. The term game breaker doesn’t even begin to describe how incredible this kid is on a football field.

I try to not get in these arguments, but they're presistent.

He may be the best kick returner only because Ginn didnt really take kickoffs, only punt returners. But Ginn is the overall better returner, and way ahead of him as a punt returner.

This is just my humble opinion but I believe JT went out to other schools to open up the passing game. I believe that they are going to run a lot of pass patterns designed to pick any man-to-man coverage. Also in the same vein zone coverage will be stretched with deep patterns and receivers flowing from on side of the field to the other.

I just wish JT would have taken a look at that Urban Meyer, Utah/Bowling Green offense. Very effective for a MAC team. Imagine what a top DI team could do with that offense. Florida will love it. With the talent the Bucks have at the skill positions...talk about rippin.

I think JT gets it now with the talent he has. These players just cannot be molded into the CK 2002 offense. That mould will be broken this year. Also special teams will be emphasized more so with 2 new legs coming in. Blocking kicks and returning them for TD's will become more common.

Ginn will prove with these changes that he is the most potent threat in all of college football 2005. Mark my words...
