WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

You are correct sir. Too many passes dropped today from the starting WR's to have Teddy sitting on the bench. Teddy also had a nice gain on a reverse early in the game also. The Dolphins threw one pass today over 20 yards and Green missed Chambers on that one. If they don't open up the field more they will win 4 games at best. I'd put Ted in the game and run him deep every other down and move the safeties off the box to try and run the ball a little better. Sooner or later Teddy will get his shot and he'll blow up right after he does.

Rookie Ginn gets in the mix

LANDOVER, Md. - Ted Ginn Jr., the Dolphins' first-round pick in this year's draft, didn't have many opportunities to contribute big plays on special teams in his NFL debut, but when given a crease the former Ohio State standout showed some promise.

Ginn returned three kickoffs for 70 yards in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Redskins, and he nearly broke away for a big one open when he cut back from the pile and hit the outside going left early in the third quarter.

Ginn almost found open field on that return, but Redskins cornerback Carlos Rogers, the last line of defense, managed to push him out of bounds, limiting it to a 34-yard gain.

"From what I've seen from the work I've put in [during] practices, it has helped me a lot," said Ginn, who was disappointed in his returns during the exhibition season. "If you'll look, it's a big difference between [the] Kansas City [exhibition game] and now. It's all the hard work I've put in."

Ginn also returned four punts for a total of 20 yards, with his longest being a 9-yard return. And he gained 7 yards on a reverse.

Teddy is still nursing that Quad injury and all the Dolphin fans are bashing him for not returning that Kickoff. But im starting to wonder, maybe he is slowing down alittle because he is bulking up so much. He is probably closer to 190lb now. Just trying to get some other thoughts from you guys.

Unless TGjr ends up with aroun 1000 yards recieving, 10+ TDs, and 3+ return TDs they had thier man crush on Brady Quinn coming out of the draft and untill he flops or TG explodes big time many phins fans will bitch.

In His Own Words: Ted Ginn Jr.

In the latest issue of Sports Illustrated, Ted Ginn Jr gives a brief interview with SI's Andrew Lawrence. The interview is short, but it's still interesting nonetheless, and is part of an SI feature called "A Rookie's Tale." Here are some highlights:

(On spraining his ankle, being forced from the game, and seeing Ohio State fall 41-14)
I'm a grown man, and what happened happened. You move on. I could have come in [to the NFL] as a national champ, but it means nothing. You're back to being a freshman, a rookie.
(On Dolphins fans booing when he was drafted at number 9)
I've been booed before, and I've gone through way bigger things than being booed. The team has been great to me. I've known Cam for many years. I've known receivers coach Robiskie for years too. I've known Chris Chambers damn near my whole life. I don't see having this type of family, this type of support, anywhere else.

(On his academic difficulties)
I struggled right off the bat. I failed first grade. Teachers could never cope with how I learned so slowly. In sixth grade a teacher asked me to spell a word. I told him I couldn't spell it, but he kept badgering me. So I just didn't say anything. He told me, "Your life is going to be flipping hamburgers at Burger King."

(On why he had such trouble)
In eighth grade, I got diagnosed with a learning disability. I just need more time. If it takes you two weeks to read a book, it will take me four. Or it might take three or four times of you telling me what's going on. High school helped me get comfortable with where I was. Sometimes I had two or three teachers to a subject, and they made a way for me to learn everything a regular student learns, just in more time. It was a major turnaround from almost failing almost every grade, seriously, to getting on the honor roll, finishing 16th in my class, and making it to college. Living through that makes things a lot easier for me now.

Dolphins' Ginn still has no receptions

MIAMI GARDENS ? Ted Ginn Jr. set a record Sunday against Dallas - but not one he'll care to remember.

Ginn, the ninth overall pick in April's draft, did not record a catch for the second week in a row. Of the 14 receivers drafted in the top 10 since 2000, Ginn is the only one to be blanked in his first two games.

I still don't know why they don't put Ginn in, its getting rediculas. He looks alot better on returns now, but they need to do a better job of getting the ball in his hands on offense. Going to get more hell this week because Hester returned another one.

Teddy is my favorite NFL player(even named my fantasy squad - the ted ginns) but his returning was awful against Dallas....he needs to get the ball north-south much quicker....stalling, and waiting for the wall to develop just doesn't work in the NFL...I hope he figures it out, b/c I know he's prob taking a huge beating in Miami right now

His return stats don't look too shabby.

I watched the game, first thing I thought was Teddy isn't in the same universe as a PR that Hester is right now. Secondly he is still hesitating and dancing instead of hitting the hole hard. The announcers were stating that he looks like he is second guessing himself on every return, and I would agree.

I agree. His timidness is probably one of the reasons why he's not been a factor on offense. You can't have a slot receiver who's terrified of dropping his shoulder and taking a hit, especially against teams like Washington and Dallas.
