WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

Trent Green didn't help him by throwing a pass out of bounds when Teddy was wide open.
Ted over ran his route on that pass. Green was throwing it to a shorter curl and had released the ball before Ted had come out of his route...by then Ted was scrambling to get back to where he was supposed to be, and where the ball was.

I think that Ted will figure it out, but it's going to be later rather than sooner, IMO. Per Ted's own words, it just takes him a little longer to catch on sometimes.

I just want him to break out so Keyshaun Johnson can stop hating. "Wheres this Ted Ginn kid" , "the 9th pick in the draft" Keyshaun: "I pick Dallas to win", Why? Keyshaun: "Ted Ginn thats all I have to say."
I just want Ginn to shut him the f*ck up.

His own failures as the #1 pick didn't shut him up. What makes you think that Ginn's success will?

When ESPN had the awards show and Glenn won the Billetnikov (spelling sorry...Raider and football fans)....the camera was focused on Keyshawn before the announcement. He was prepping his suit coat and getting ready for his speach and then the words were announced "Terry Glenn". The camera remained on Keyshawn and he sank in his seat...it was awesome to watch. I bet he still isnt over that.

Maybe you guys should take a look at the blocking that Ted and the Miami returners are getting or not getting. Then try and find out what you might do if you were returning a punt and the gunner is within 2 yards of you as you catch it. The guy is super fast and can make plays but he needs a little help and he's definitely not getting it. He averaged over 20 yards last week on KR's. His only pass was OVERTHROWN and he still managed to make the catch it just pulled him out of bounds. I've been talking to many Dolphin fans the past few weeks and the schemes right now will not fit Ted, just as its not fitting Ronnie Brown. Trent Green blows ass and will not be able to throw the ball deep to Ted anyway if he does get the seam routes he excels at. Until John Beck or even Cleo Lemon are behind center Ted's contributions will be only in the return game or trying to run a reverse with 4 defenders in the backfield as he gets the ball.

I've watched every down of every Dolphins game since Ted arrived and he's barely been given a chance to shine. Watch the Bears and Hester this week. His blocking is their and he is able to use his God given abilities to find his way to the endzone. Put him on the Dolphins punt return team and things won't come as easy. Teddy has a ways to go to reach that level but he's also trying to learn the offense and Hester isnt.

Thats not correct it was just thrown that badly, he was wide open. They've ran that play maybe 15 times counting the preseason and only against Tampa did Green hit him where he could settle himself afterwards. Green has the receivers jumping and diving on every play just to touch most of his passes. He's got to go and soon.

I think Ginn is having similar problems to Reggie Bush's last year. The holes close much quicker in the NFL and Ginn hasn't adjusted to a different speed yet. (Don't flame me, his own foot speed is amazing I mean the speed of the game) He's a great returner, he just needs to make quicker decisions.

Thats very true. Bush didn't see the endzone until game 6 last season so Teddy not scoring isnt the worst thing in the world. The difference is that Payton and the Saints figured out where Reggie could do the most damage and put him in those situations more often, the Dolphins staff still dont seem to understand the best place for Teddy to contribute and they just cant count on the young Oline and mistake prone QB.

I have a feeling Teddy's not going to do much to get fan's off of his back.

He almost acted scared returning punts last week.

agreed. He won't do much this year. He isn't a polished WR and he has an injury to boot in the off-season. Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up a bust, but time will tell. WR is a hard position to figure. I'm shocked as hell that Drew Carter is having a better career than Michael Jenkins.

Teddy needs a good coach to help bring out that potential. Not to mention a QB capable of getting him the ball when he does develop. He's the ultimate boom or bust pick. Raw skill is there, but somebody needs to be there to help it develop. We'll see.
