WR T.Y. (Tyrone) Williams (official thread)

6'6" and 220? Are u kidding' me? We have never had a guy like that! (besides Stoney) What a monster!
It's a "conditional" offer. So maybe we should not get too excited just yet.

I just don't see an offer to this kid. He's barely played in the last few years, has grade issues, and profiles to tight end better than split end. I may obviously be wrong, but I think the wires are crossed a bit with his recruitment.

i never trust listed hts/wts...so 6'6"/220 probably means 6'5"/195 the way things work. Williams' highlights sure look good, and I agree with Duane that he probably knows what an offer is. Should be a part of this class it sounds like (sooner than later).

Are you freakin kidding me? The kid had 400 yards in four games before he was out with injury. That tells me he's got good production. Profiles to tight end? Maybe you should look at Kyle Prater's film, where he is noticeably less explosive than Williams. Nobody at scout or rivals is calling Prater a TE.

The kid plays in one of the weakest leagues in all of Ohio high school football. Stats mean nothing.

Calling Tyrone Williams more explosive than Kyle Prater? That's crazy talk, my man.

Now, I don't think Kyle Prater is very explosive myself...I think he could very well be developed into a tight end as well. But he is much smoother than Williams. Williams is very questionable as a split end target, IMO and in a few other people's opinions.

And one kid has offers from everyone in the country while another only has a handful with a questionable offer from Ohio State. We shall see how this plays out, but I'm a bit baffled by it concerning the circumstances.

I've watched both films and really didn't see much difference between the two. I was actually kind of surprised with the offer list Prater has. I would have loved to seen Prater be recruited but he is not the end all be all at WR by any means. Just another of many solid prospects, a group that would include Williams.

As far as offers go, his scout or rivals list may not get you all hot or bothered but it is my understanding that the attention Williams has been receiving has really picked up after coaches from around the country have seen him run this track season.

Ok...Is it really a big deal if he's 6'5" instead of 6'6"? He's obviously a huge target one way or another.

not really, but being 195 as opposed to 220 could mean the difference between Split End or H-Back/Flex Tight End.

Agreed. If he is already 220 and looks that slim, he probably is destined for TE.

Why? Because he's 6'6" and may grow to 250-ish? Let's let him finish his senior year of high school and maybe his first year at OSU before we start sliding him down to the line...
