I thought before this trade that the Jets could be a very good team next year. They've had some great trades already this offseason and now Santonio? Damn.
I'm not gonna call the Steelers idiots though. They've got a lot of bad publicity lately with Ben Rothensdfkdjfsberger and Santonio. It's not hard for me to believe that other teams were reluctant on offering more for Santonio given his current issues but 5th round seems like a steal!

I don't know how anyone can fault the Steelers in this when Santonio gets on the internet and publically tells the world he's getting ready to smoke pot.
It's not great for trade leverage when the player has been arrested for marijuana before, among other things, and still feels the urge to get on a public website used by millions of people and say "wake n' bake :)"...I'm shocked at the stupidity, and it may have been enough to get him suspended for 4 games under the policy and drug code.
Combine Santonio's idiotic behavior with the fact he's a free-agent at the end of the season, and I think people are over-estimating his value. He's a major at-risk player who has the option of walking at the end of the season and he may miss the first 4 games of the season.

Off the top of my head the one real mistake I can remember the Steelers FO making was letting Woodson go thinking he was washed up. Also recently they let Faneca go to the Jets but that was purely about money, they simply couldn't afford him.
Other than those two, I honestly don't recall anyone else the Steelers have traded/released that I watched and said "damn I wish we had him back". Maybe Santonio will be #3 but something tells me they'll find a way to keep on winning. This is the NFL version of just trusting the coaches/front office on this one for me.
I just hope Santonio pulls his head out of his ass career wise. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the commish will put the hammer down for serial stupidity and that next young stud WR will be along to make them forget about you in a heart beat.

Holmes has certainly done enough to damage his stock, but even with this being his final year and facing a four-game suspension, as long as owners like Jerry Jones and Al Davis have a pulse, they will pay far above a 5th round picks' value (E.g., None) for a #1 WR with a troubled past.billmac91;1689205; said:
