WR/RB Lamaar "Flash" Thomas (transfer to New Mexico)

As long as we have the first or last official, I have no complaints. It's when we are in the middle when I feel a little uneasy.

Zook doesn't scare me with Thomas, based on geography and the type of role he would play at OSU. He would shine at OSU if he were to commit to us.

A lot of you guys have stated that OSU struggles in Maryland. In the past three years Coach Zook and Coach Lox have brought in 10 players from the Maryland/DC area including Arrelious Benn, Vontae Davis, and Derrick McPhearson. I think that's a lot for a place 11 1/2 hours away. So I fail to see how based on geography OSU has an advantage.

Location might not play into it, however one thing that helps OSU is the text messaging ban. While Tressel and the boys did text, few are as guilty of abusing the chance for constant contact as Zook. My fellow Miami Alum openly admitted have some egregious amount of bytes used texting recruits, though I don't remember his exact comment.

I think it will come down to what he ultimately wants to play. If he wants to ultimately be a RB, I'm not sure that's what OSU is recruiting him as. However if he wants to be a contributer to a school with a current history of winning, He's a buckeye... I for some reason can't see him as a Terp, but I could be totally off base as well. We shall see. I'm hopin the Brew Crew can help the coaches land another one.

Don't take this the wrong way but you must not have been following recruiting for very long. What kids say to the media and what they say to coaches/players/etc. can be two very different things.

I have been following it since 2005, but I know what you are saying. Some of Lamaar's recent updates on Scout, Rivals, Bnuts, etc have all indicated OSU was the team to beat which resonated in some recent posts in this thread.

I just wanted to make sure everything was status quo for Lamaar and that he hadn't changed his mind or anything.

If you agree to come back off the ledge, I'll open the window up and let you back in...

I wouldn't exactly say the "brought in McPhearson" as a HS recruit. He transferrred after he couldn't make it at Florida, no?

The main purpose/question with geography is "where?"... In this case, "where" indicates that tOSU is closer to Maryland than Illinois is... The point you are making would rely more on social geography (the study of "where" in regards to how people gather and act in social settings) vs. basic geography which focuses on the location of places and features (in this case tOSU is closer to MD than Illinois)...

As for Thomas, the things that he says to the media are not as telling as the things he's saying out of the public eye, FWIW...
