Yes, then you certainly are elitist. You sound as foolish as the Bama fans who sound shocked when a top recruit chooses a lesser known school over them. Its the kids decision and if he feels more comfortable at UK and sees that as a better path to the NFL than so be it. OSU has sent a lot of kids to the NFL, and UK has the facilities and coaching to get him there as well. Good for Malik Hooker, and there are countless other former Buckeyes who never saw the field and maybe their careers would be different if they saw the field(I.em Jeremy Cash). You can get NFL ready mentally and physically by also playing in games and not sittingAm I an "elitist fan" for pointing out the fact that Ohio State has had 437 players selected in the NFL draft (3rd most) including 79 in the first round (most), while Kentucky had had 192 selections (43rd most) and only 14 first round picks (way down the list)?
Kids can make it to NFL from Mount Union, John Carroll, Ashland, and even Amherst College, but that doesn't mean it's a good career move to go to one of those places if you want to play in the NFL someday.
I don't even want to get into the stupid "seeing the field next year" argument. Malik Hooker didn't see the field for two years, then became a unanimous All American and first round draft choice in year three. Early playing time is irrelevant except to stroke one's ego. Learning how to play the game, getting your body ready for the NFL, having coaches who are respected throughout the League - that's what counts.
There simply is no "reasoning" for a top football recruit to pick Kentucky over Ohio State.
You're thinking too much like a fan as opposed to the player
