WR L'Christian Smith (transfer to Cincinnati, transfer to Western Kentucky)

Let's be honest...look deep inside ourselves....no way a guy named "blue" was ever going to come to Ohio State...Meyer would have him running laps every day for four years and tell him he has to quit being himself!!!!!!! :yow1: :oh::io:

Too soon????

The Kentucky snake oil must rival that of Tim beck if a guy with an offer from Ohio state that is a top priority of the staff chooses Kentucky.
Is he a top priority?

I assume Ohio State needs him to hold off on committing until they work out the numbers in the class a little more closer to signing day- so he is either adjusting his timeline to later in the process in light of that, or he is going to commit to Kentucky soon because he doesn't want to wait and can go to a place that shows him more love.

That's purely speculation on my part as to what's going on here.

I may be wrong, but he's our no 2 receiver right now. After Babb, is there anyone else we are going after and have an actual shot at?

I really think there is some last minute misdirection here from the Smith camp...I would be very shocked if he picked UK over OSU regardless of the recent expert chatter even though those guys are usually pretty accurate. I will be willing to own up to it if I am wrong, but I don't think I am.

Why would Blue go to a basketball school, that wins nothing in football, and does not send players to the NFL.
I hope that you're being sarcastic. Because in the past draft in April, the first 2 QBs were from a basketball school(UNC) and a perennially mediocre team that throws the ball 80 times a game(Texas Tech), the top WR was from freaking Western MI and the top LB was from a basketball school(Temple). You can honestly make it to the NFL from freaking anywhere if you're good enough. Let's not be elitist fans and be shocked by the reasoning if Blue were to pick UK. He can have the best opportunity at seeing the field next year and being the main star. Something that would be hard to do at OSU, especially after last years class and what they're bringing in for 2018

Am I an "elitist fan" for pointing out the fact that Ohio State has had 437 players selected in the NFL draft (3rd most) including 79 in the first round (most), while Kentucky had had 192 selections (43rd most) and only 14 first round picks (way down the list)?

Kids can make it to NFL from Mount Union, John Carroll, Ashland, and even Amherst College, but that doesn't mean it's a good career move to go to one of those places if you want to play in the NFL someday.

I don't even want to get into the stupid "seeing the field next year" argument. Malik Hooker didn't see the field for two years, then became a unanimous All American and first round draft choice in year three. Early playing time is irrelevant except to stroke one's ego. Learning how to play the game, getting your body ready for the NFL, having coaches who are respected throughout the League - that's what counts.

There simply is no "reasoning" for a top football recruit to pick Kentucky over Ohio State.
