WR Jeremiah Smith (All B1G, B1G Frosh/WR of Year, All-American)

I can't remember a true freshman ever starting the season at WR, so that would be something rare but he's done rare quite a bit.

I also couldn't find the most receiving yards for a true freshman at OSU but it looks like Cris Carter with 476. Kind of surprising, but certainly something he could also break.
Boston was the first name that came to mind. It took him 5 games before he was a starter.

My memory isn't what it once was, but I recall him tipping a pass to himself and taking it to the house as a true freshman (against Indiana maybe?). It may not have been game 1 but I bet he was on the field day 1.

Guessing not game 1 then
Ted Ginn, Jr.—2004 (wide receiver)

Starts – 6

Stats – 25 catches, 359 yards, 2 touchdowns, 13 carries, 2 rushing touchdowns, 25.6 yards per punt return, 4 punt return touchdowns

Career Note – Ginn was one of the most electric players ever at Ohio State. 4,068 all-purpose yards, in just three seasons, is still the tenth highest number by a Buckeye ever. Six career punt returns for touchdowns are twice as many as any OSU player.

As long as they rotate this year and Hart really should and seems to have the room ready for that, starting (and I can't believe I'M actually thinking and writing this) isn't really that important. We've got a squad this year and he came in early ready to work, like Tate did last year, and has made himself part of the conversation/rotation.
