WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (2022 Rose Bowl MVP, Seattle Seahawks)

If they just incorporate JSN back into the Offense he'll be alright. If they try to manipulate the Offense to highlight JSN then it's going to be an issue at this point in the season because the timing is off and the other weapons are producing. They were really forcing the issue in the ND game trying everything to get him the ball and it was super clunky. Then he went out and it was like thats all they practiced all summer. Now CJ and the Offense are adjusting on the fly and lighting everyone up. Let him play here and there until he's no doubt 100% and full speed and then see what we've got in a couple weeks.

I do think it's a shenanigan that JSN didnt tweak or reinjure that leg vs Iowa. Dude was miserable looking and emotional with his head down and that's not his personality. Ryan Day is notorious for being super hush about injuries and illness, and I'm ok with that really.

As much as it pains me, if he plays another down, I’d be shocked.
You think there is zero chance he comes back next year? Would he still be a first rounder if he doesn't play another down this year?

His 40 will be in the 4.6-4.8 range. Cone drill will be off the charts as well as other intangibles. Coming back for a dominate year could get him that 1st rd money.

I hope so but doubt it.
He’ll be a 1st-rounder this year with a chance to go to a good team.

He has many millions impacted by the decision... either way...

If you look at the money difference between a high 1st round pick vs. a 2nd or 3rd rounder it is huge:

If he doesn't play anymore and projects to fall out of the 1st round, it may be a wise option to come back to improve his draft stock. The rookie contracts last for 4 or 5 years. He'd have to play in the NFL that long to get to get any more than the 2nd or 3rd round money.

I don’t think he will want that reputation going into draft…..not that it’d be a fair one.

That said, it’d be easy for an organization to write JSN off for not attempting to bounce back from a hamstring injury the entire season…..when he has one of the best QBs in country to deliver him the ball and put him on showcase.

It’s a tricky situation for sure, IMO.

If he doesn’t play another down this year, I partially wonder if we do t get a surprise senior season out of him like Olave….this is where the NIL helps. He could make decent coin and elevate himself back to top 15 pick status.

That said, he likely goes behind Marvin Harrison JR. in that draft…

OSU is so insanely loaded at WR.

My prediction:
if he is able to play before end of year - he goes top half of round 1; est contract around $25M
if he is done for the season - he goes 2nd half of round 1; est contract around $15M
I need to make a last minute edit
if he is able to play before the end of the year... and gets hurt... bets are off about round 1
depending in the injury

I feel confident that NFL scouts know what they have here...
they knew at the 2022 draft they wanted JSN right then
and some may have taken him before Wilson and Olave !!!!!!

It’s just a painful year similar to Byars foot injury. At least a few months of rest the hammy will be fine. WR like JSN perform best at 100% get him there, don’t hope. Yea an NFL player can play through some of this and be effective. They have learned through experience how to throttle back. JSN still learning his body protect him from himself.

4.8? Even J.T. Barrett ran a mid-4.7. JSN is easily a sub-4.6 guy.
