WR Jalin Marshall (Edmonton Elks)

Yes, let's infer intelligence based on everything he has done, said and accomplished in his life and not insult him by saying he has "sports IQ."

Edit: go to Buckskin86's original post to see that article.
Jesus some of you guys are ridiculous. Considering I know Jalin and his family, even insinuating that I would call him "unintelligent" at all is absurd. Sports IQ and being smart are definitely not the same. A guy with tremendous smarts could be unintelligent on the field or court of play and vice versa. Stop being so obtuse

For a second there, I thought you were criticizing your own comment.

"Sports smarts" implies something negative- which is why Katzenmoyer was brought up. I was clarifying that Jalin is not Katzenmoyer. Stop taking things so personal.

"Sports smarts" does NOT imply anything negative. Only to you evidently.

It refers to understanding leverage, personal space and angles in motion. It also implies to knowing the proper techniques and applying them in the correct situations. The conversation is about his sports skills set and how he is going to blow up in the future. No one here was talking about his SAT scores or the fact that he understands prepositional phrases. The only time his personal intelligence was questioned or that it was "implied" is here, by you.

What's the difference between sports IQ and IQ? Can't we just call him smart?

The conversation quickly moved on to the comparison to Percy Harvin where he's definitely going to have his most comparisons as a Buckeye football player while he's in Urbans' offense. Stop trying to antagonize.

Those are a lot of words to justify using the phrase "sports IQ" rather than just calling the kid smart.

Whatever. I no longer care.

Marshall is a dynamic football player who also seems like a great kid off the field.

Go Bucks!

You all are getting a bit antsy for the game, eh? Less than a half hour away at least....

And I get what @Bestbuck36 is saying - saying someone has 'sports smarts' (I'd rather call it football IQ) is different than the traditional IQ....but this is a football forum, talking about football....speaking strictly about football is not any form of backhanded double secret probation remark about Jalin's smarts off the field.

Football IQ is far different than the "instincts" someone else mentioned, two vastly different things. Yes, football is a 'quick twitch' sport but pre-snap play diagnostics is HUGE, especially for a guy who takes so many snaps at wildcat. THAT is what I believe was being referenced, and for a kid who played QB through HS at a high level I would agree with him.

BTN showing it is currently snowing in Minneapolis. They then go to their weather chick who says there is a possibility of snow there, anywhere from a dusting to 2". Yeah, I would call currently snowing a possibility.
The Bucks have been told all week (and the MN QB has said) the cold will impact them. I truly believe it will. I believe they embrace the cold, get excited about playing in the snow and go out to enjoy the conditions like kids (which they are in some ways) instead of like an old codger (like I am).

The talent is obvious when watching Marshall, and I'm kinda glad that Meyer just didn't bench him, but if he can't get the turnovers straightened out it's going to be hard to give him 5-10 touches a game. He's already passed Wilson at the H position (IMO) and he's just a freshman, so hopefully he can bounce back next week and take care of the ball. Just not at PR.
