WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Official Thread)

Has Dane ever dropped a ball?

I'm not sure how he's still a functioning human after some of the hits he's taken this year.
He fumbled against PSU when he got nailed by 3 guys at the same time.

I love this kid. I feel bad for him though, those hits have got to be awful. Hope nothing bad happens to him.

Forgot about that.

Still, considering the hits he's taken this year, if that's the only time he's let the ball get away from him, that's impressive.

He doesn't drop very many. He has great hands and as his dad mentioned once at a HS game, "he could catch a BB in the dark". Let's keep the lights on though.

I'm sure you meant to say that was at Wiscy.

From the Ozone,

Head to Head: OSU's last touchdown drive was aided by a personal foul call on a a pass attempt in the vicinity of Dane Sanzenbacher. Illinois fans took exception to the call thinking it was an interference call on a ball that had been tipped, but the call was actually for helmet to helmet contact which is a point of officiating emphasis this year. After the game Sanzenbacher said he thought the pass wasn't even intended for him.

"I it was to Boom. I was just there just in case. I just wanted to get into position because I wasn't sure if he was throwing it to me or Boom. I just wanted to be in the vicinity (in case of tipped ball)," he said.
Sanzenbacher has been the victim of several big hits this season and has missed some playing time with a concussion. He remains philosophical about this pain.
"It's part of the game. Somebody has to be out there taking it," he quipped.
"It didn't feel great, but it kept the drive alive."
Sanzenbacher said there is no way to get ready to take those big hits.
"Unless you want to go run into walls, I don't think you can really get prepared," he said with a grin.
Sanzenbacher had better luck in the first half when he caught a touchdown pass from Pryor, a play on which Sanzenbacher says Pryor made a very heady play.
"There's a progression. I definitely wasn't the first option but it ended up coming up my way," he said.
The defensive back trying to defend him did not fare quite as well.

"I slid out and he tried to make a play on the ball and didn't realize I was behind him," Sanzenbacher said.

He got rocked twice at Illinois, one on the helmet to helmet hit near the sideline by the ass jack Beanie hurdled.

I would be concerned with any player who took so many potential concussion causing hits in one season. He could be looking at a shortened career.

I am impressed with Dane Sanzenbacher and God only knows how he is hanging onto the ball. Lately he is really taking some shots. I was remembering an Alum by the name of "Mike Lanese and how he played. He had a great pair of hands in his day. Carter was another one who was great for the Buckeyes. And of course "Gonzo" and all the great catches he came up with - especially the Scum game ending catching in 2005. Wow........ and now we have another one coming up in Sanzenbacher. I hope and pray tht he can stay healthy for the rest of his playing time with the Buckeyes. Good Luck to you Dane.

Is that a dane-sized beard? A team needs different skillsets to function, mammoth beards (beanie), strong but accurate beards (trapasso), raw beards (jenkins) & precise beards (dane).

Very good associations. Pryor doesn't have one yet, but if he did it would be one of those below the lip ones - you know Jazzy

Dane: Great expectations for OSU-UM game
Rivalry game on home turf

Last year, Dane Sanzenbacher was on the field in the rain and the cold as the Buckeyes ground out a 14-3 win in Ann Arbor.

COLUMBUS - Dane Sanzenbacher already has a significant collection of memories from the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.

The sophomore wide receiver for the Buckeyes has watched the game on television as a fan, he's taken in one of the real classics of the long-running series while witnessing that epic 42-39 Ohio State win in 2006 when he was a recruit seated in the stands at Ohio Stadium.

Last year, Sanzenbacher was on the field in the rain and the cold as the Buckeyes ground out a 14-3 win in Ann Arbor. Tomorrow, the former Central Catholic standout and two-time City League player of the year plays his first Ohio State-Michigan game in Ohio Stadium.

"There will be something special about that," Sanzenbacher said. "This program has so much history and tradition surrounding it, but the Michigan game takes everything to another level. It's exciting to think about experiencing all of that."

He savors the day. :oh:
