WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Official Thread)

Dane was a real playmaker last night. His 50+ yd. reception was huge as we were pinned down inside our 10 yd. line. GREAT play call by Tress. Seems like he "opened the playbook" on that play, if you ask me.

Sanzenbacher also got one or two other key first downs in the game.

IMO, Dane has the potential to be a Steve Largent type of reciever. He just knows how to get open and has good hands and football savvy.

I loved the play and Dane had a great night. It's nice to see Tress start trusting Pryor to look more downfield too.

I love watching Dane run routes, he reminds me of Gonzo. When he catches the ball he can make plays and if there's nothing there he checks off his route and gets open. Can't wait to see him with Hartline, Lamar, Ray and Posey next year as our top receivers.

You mean leading the team in receiving yards?

Meaning the poor play from Hartline this year. In my opinion he should feel lucky to still be the #2 receiver on this team right now with how he played the first 4/5 games. Granted he has played better as of late, and not sure what the problem was but if he goes back to that kind of play, he might be on the bench. Not sure if it was the lack of confidence or whatever, but I've never seen someone struggle with catching the ball that much. It's not that I don't like the guy, because I'm from that area where he's from. I just hope he can keep up the kind of play that he has lately.

Great game by Dane, he is really turning into a very solid reciever. He runs excellent routes, has great hands and pretty darn good speed, now as long as he keeps his head on a swivel, he should have a very nice couple of years as one of the primary recievers.

was that the wheel play that we ran with the same amount of success vs LSU?

i agree that was a brilliant and well timed play call.

Wheel route? I think so. I just watched the first half again and Dane was lined up on the left behind two other WRs. They ran their routes, Dane delayed and ran into an open uncovered secondary. Too bad we didn't open up the bag of tricks more often.

Was it just me or did the big play by Dane and Small(end of the game) look to be the same play?

toledoblade.com -- Defense roars for Penn State

I think it's time to talk about the positives that came out of this game. Pryor did find Sanzenbacher on this route and few times more. Pryor's field vision is improving.

After Dane made that catch, he really juked a defender along the sideline for a few more yards. As his number fan, I was glad to see that rather than put his head down and run into him. A good run after the catch and his best so far in his young CFB career.
53-yard catch-and-run to the Penn State 41, Ohio State's third-longest play of the season.

interesting stuff, i didnt realize that.

I know its fashionable to pick on BHart, but one thing I gotta give him is his blocking ability, he likes a good hit, not saying Dane can't block, quite the contrary, but I think that's what keeps Hartline in the game since we run 70% of the time.

Where Dane helps us is his traditional slot size and toughness, we've seen him take some really hard hits, and he's small enough to get lost in defenders. I will say, he definately fits that Gonzo mold moreso than Hartline, and it seems like there is a good repetoire between he and Pryor, hope to see more of him and I suspect we will.
