WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Official Thread)

although dane has done a good job, at this point thats not all that of an impressive claim...

especially this weekend

I love the way Dane's been playing. Unfortunately, when he's in with Robo and Hartline, we have no deep threat, just 3 guys with great hands. Not at all a slam on Dane, it's just that I think when we're in a 3 receiver set, the 3 should be Small...especially this week!

Just my two-cents.

My two cents... Dane is listed behind Hartline this week. Someone was listening, TWash is listed behind Robo. We needed to bolster the deep threat. Then Ray was listed behind Dane. I don't know why that was decided, but both Ray and Dane had good games last week - better than previous. I think we may be see many 4 WR sets in this game. Many Deep balls. Look for Dane, Ray and Hartline working in tandem on short passes. Then watch Saine out of the backfield. Will we see Posey?

A baboon sits on a bar stool.....

IF..... Pryor gets more snaps... for whatever reason... (not slamming Todd at all) but if that is the case, Dane's role and effectiveness would increase. He works well within a system and runs disciplined routes. But he is most talented in finding space especially in a broken field.

Look... the Buckeyes have a chance here to re-sort things and enhance their attack. We can all agree that the offense can look stiff against speed. Pryor can add a dimension that will make opponent's prep work harder. Let's be honest... I am sure UF/LSU/USC wasn't killing itself prepping for the OSU offensive attack.

Dane is talented. But I have always appreciated his toughness and desire which exceeds his talent.

You're not slamming Todd at all. Todd has had great success with the Brians and his long ball. Pryor adds a new dimension to the passing game and he has connected with Dane on shorter passes with some success. I hope we find the Brians scoring via long ball TDs, but in the mean time it's great to see TP connecting with Dane and others for a change. Dane hasn't dropped many and has shown what you descibe as toughness on those shorter routes. Maybe the fact that Pryor runs that guick hitter/option pass very well and Dane just happens to be there. I hope we see more of this and exploit all of the talented WRs on this team. The offense will be changing with Pryor and Dane/Posey/Ray/Saine may prove to be very productive targets.

Perhaps so, however, on TPs first start, no catches for DS.

not yet? He had a great day throwing the ball. My point was that with his style, he'll find more throwing opportunities to these guys. Up until today we hadn't seen the strength of his arm. Let's just say good job and the future looks bright.

nor Posey, Small, TWash or Saine. Glad to see Robo and Hartline with TDs.

Just wondering if the plays went to BR and BH for a reason. We've got a big change (at and) under center and some other stuff going down that could be divisive in terms of team chemistry. Putting the ball in the hands of the Brians may have been a very smart move to keep the team a "TEAM."

Don't know... just a thought.

I think you have a good point. They're also the ones that stretch the field. Establishing the deep passing game strategy allows for more effective runs. Or simply they were open and others were not. Its still great to see the team working things out. The two Brians are important weapons on this team. Hartline for two TDs and Robo for one (should have been two). Taking that into next week on film gives Minny something to worry about.

Stretching the field is a big deal. If TP did not show that he can get it to the open man down field there would have been some problems in river city -- for sure.

As you suggest, a strategic tip of the cards.

Whatever it was... me like.

Yes, TP DID have a great day throwing the ball, yet Dane got no touches. My point is simple: suggesting that inserting Pryor into the lineup will provide more touches to Dane probably isn't realistic. Dane will get more touches when we have less receivers of his style on the team. Dane will get more touches when Hartline is gone. (Robo too for that matter). I love the way Dane plays and the kid has amazing heart and hands, but playing time that Dane could see is being eaten up by a Senior. Meanwhile, when we go 3 or 4 wide, it's really becoming apparent that we need a speed merchant out there.

I look for huge things from Dane next year after Hartline is gone.
