WR Brian Robiskie (Official Thread)

What about Robo? Brian Robiskie didn't have a pass thrown his way in Indy and had two balls thrown to him against Cincinnati, but no catches that game either.

"I'm not down on Brian," said Shurmur. "We saw a little bit less of Brian, but he still played over 25 snaps, so he was in there quite a bit. We'll see how the numbers work out."

He dismissed the idea that Robiskie is more of a blocking receiver. "Brian's a real receiver," he said. "I don't have any problems throwing him the football."

Where?s Robiske?

Wide receiver Brian Robiskie not only didn?t catch a pass against the Colts, but there wasn?t even a pass thrown in his vicinity.

?As I?ve mentioned in the past, receiver production sometimes comes in bunches,? Shurmur said. ?You might not get many throws or you might not be targeted much, and then one game you might get five or six.

?I?m not (concerned). Brian is doing everything we?re asking him to do. He knows where to go and where to be. He?s playing hard. I?m not at all concerned.?

Robiskie, a former star at Chagrin Falls High and Ohio State University, begged off an interview request after practice. He said he had to lift weights.

NFL INSIDER: Invisible Robiskie not giving up

If any player on the Browns roster has a reason to complain about being ?insignificant? it is Brian Robiskie.

The third year wide receiver from Ohio State and Chagrin Falls has played in all five games this season and has three catches to show for it ? all in one game.

He caught his three passes for 25 yards in the Oct. 2 game against the Titans. Last week he was credited with a catch that was actually made by tight end Evan Moore.

Robiskie is a team player through and through. He will not gripe, even when pulled aside for a one-on-one interview as he was Friday at the training complex in Berea.

?Obviously, any time you hit any obstacle it?s not what you plan for ? you just have to deal with it,? he said. ?Coming into a situation where you?re losing is always tough. The biggest thing is doing everything you can to help the team win. That?s been my mindset since I got here ? really my whole life wherever I?m been.?

just waived by the browns per rotoworld

Browns waived WR Brian Robiskie.

The coaching staff spent the offseason talking up the No. 36 pick in the 2009 as an ideal fit for the West Coast offense, but he's yet to show even a modicum of play-making ability. Robiskie can help a team as a fundamentally sound run-blocking role player, but that was a luxury on a Browns offense lacking big-play ability. The Falcons, employing Robiskie's father as WRs coach, are a logical candidate to show interest.

Considering the strange timing, I would guess there is more to the story.

Maybe, maybe not...waived him to make room for new RB...cribbs, massaqoui and little are all getting most of the reps...robo didnt get to capatalize off his great finish to last year...doesn't help our offense is a joke right now...best of luck to him

I doubt it, I don't think he contributed much on ST, and he was out of the receiver rotation. Ironic for me that I was actually just thinking last night in the car listening to sports radio that it was surprising he still had a roster spot, given the way the team is going.

The "more" is they have two injured RBs and need a roster spot to pick up someone. Robo was buried on the depth chart so he was expendable.

I completely whiffed on Robo. I thought he'd be the best active OSU WR in the NFL for several years.
Same here...I expected him to be a solid #2 type receiver for many years. Something just never clicked for some reason. Frankly, I'm surprised he lasted this long.

No idea how he hasn't caught on in the NFL. Seemed to have everything to make him a decent WR. Guess some just don't work out.

I know he still has plenty of time to become an NFL WR. Just talking about his career up to this point. /disclaimer
