Would you be happy with 12-1 in 2008 with a Title Game loss?

In 2008, would you take 12-1 with a loss in the NC Game.

There are, as shetuck said, caveats. The question in the poll is whether or not we, as fans, would prefer to get to the title game and lose or not get there at all. I think preferring to not get there is a perfectly reasonable attitude.

Something of a tangent, but I wasn't convinced that the Bucks really deserved the title shot last year. It had nothing to do with strength of schedule or the debacle in the desert, but rather that they just never looked that strong all year, despite having a statistically excellent team. Something about them looked off. Maybe it's just because of the huge turnover in personnel on the offense, but I really would have preferred that they hadn't made it last year, if for no other reason than they should be better this year and I hate to see them face prejudice as a result of previous performance.

Nah' they deserved to get there because they won what they were supposed to win to get there and did it within the rules.
A bowl game is a reward you earn and if it happens to be the NC game even better. If we had won you wouldn't be saying what you say for sure.
In short we deserved it, it's ours and the rest can eat dirt.
I want them to win the best they can and to beat the best they can and they can't if we deny them that chance.

Never in my post did I say I would prefer to not make the NC game at all. Furthermore, to be clear - would the team be happy with 12-1 in 2008 with a Title Game loss? I don't think they would. I want what this team desires for itself as evidenced by those that opted to delay their draft to the NFL, 13-0 and a crystal football.

This is THE Ohio State University we expect to play for national championships every year. In my opinion anything less is a disapointment. You have to have high standards for yourself every year.:oh::io:

Yes, we recruit top-flight talent every year; Then again, you also need to have realistic standards.

Yeah i realize those are not realistic standards but with the talent we have comming back we have a shot to play in three national straight title games. How many teams can say that. So i think those standards are not that far fetched. You don't go into a season saying i hope we go 7-5 and go to some middle of the road bowl game. Even if there unrealistic you have to start at the top. There is nothing wrong with having high expectations. OSU wont play for the national championship every year but they can contend for it. Thats the main pointe i was trying to get accross.:oh::io:

One significant difference this year, as opposed to 2007, is that the 12-0 before the NC game would include a win at USC. That would take away a lot of the media criticism, and only a handful of idiots would say that tOSU doesn't deserve the BCS Title game shot.

And given that there has to be a loss, I'd still prefer a single loss coming in the NC game than anywhere else.

Right now it's National Championship or Bust. If we end up loosing to USC, Wisconsin, or anyone else for that matter (:oh:we will beat the hell out of TSUN:io:) I will grieve for a few days and get right back behind my Buckeyes!

I'll deal with IF i have to.

You didn't really specify as much as I think you meant to. I think you meant 12-1 with that loss in the title, or 12-1 with that loss in the scUM game.

I cannot chose between another heartbreaker of not being able to wear my set aside clothes for post championship game day or a scUM loss. That's really really ridiculous, too.

Doesn't matter anyway, we're running the table.:osu:

It is SOOOOOO hard to go back in college football. Of course I'd be happy with it, and if and when people look back on the Buckeyes in the future it'll be an AMAZING feat. I know there hasn't really been a championship game that long, but I am pretty sure no team's gone 3 years in a row. Ideally, you'd like to win one, and even with a premier coach and a ridiculous returning class it's a lot to be dissatisfied with a Championship appearance. The schedule's particularly tough and it's a lot to ask to be perfect in the B10. I doubt I'll ever be dissatisfied with a BCS title game appearance.

There's no way I could take losing another BCS championship game! Especially not to the SEC again!!!
I hope we destroy teams like we're capable of doing, Tressell-ball is nice, but we need to make a statement to the nation this year and just blowout every team we face! I want even Bowling Green to get beat 56-0! Take no prisoners this year!!
