In 2008, would you take 12-1 with a loss in the NC Game.

Happy? I'd be fuckin' ecstatic. Especially if the twelfth win was in the BCS bowl game. Especially if the loss was to Purdue on a freak series of fourth quarter mistakes.

Unfortunately I don't know if any Big 10 school will get into the BCS Bowl with a loss after the last two disasters unless there are a bunch of 2 loss contenders.

Hell ya, I'd take 12-1....if we win the Big Ten!

If we lost to USC early in the season we could still sneak back into the NC game, and win it. Otherwise, I'd still be happy with a Rose Bowl. That's a good season for me.

I didn't feel bad about 12-1 with a MNC loss this year because it was a rebuilding year and we never should have made it that far, but next year with the team we have coming back it feels like a year to go all the way. Even if we are 12-1 and don't win the BCS it could be worse, we could be in shambles like scum is. :p

I just added 'with a Title Game loss' to the thread title, since that was the poll question, but I think some responses have been based only on the thread title, which hadn't included that.

My gut reaction is to side with Milli and concur with the "Buffalo of the NCAA" feeling. I have a relative of mine (by marriage) who's a big ND fan, and I don't know that I could take hearing about 3 consecutive NC losses. I'll certainly support my Buckeyes if they are NC bound in January '09. And, I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment that we have almost ZERO chance of a NC appearance unless we go undefeated. The voters will just be WAITING for us to fail. That being said, I would "trade" wins against USC and scUM for a shot at the NC (with a loss to Wisconsin or Illinois). That may sound pessimistic, but a third consecutive NC loss would be REALLY hard to bear.

I share this exact sentiment. If we win our big non-con games (including a bowl) in impressive fashion and pound TSUN, but lose to UW or Illinois then I'd be happy.

An NC would be nice, but at this point I'd be happy just to continue playing at a high level. Getting to the MNC and losing, though, would be unacceptable. Oddly, falling short of reaching the game yet having a good year (12-1) would be OK, but going and losing wouldn't be.

Of course, going 13-0 and beating Georgia by 13 TDs in the MNC and Beanie winning the Heisman would be the best outcome possible, but I'm not by any means holding my breath. I don't think we could beat them by more than 9 or 10 TDs, tops (I kid, I kid).

Seriously folks, are you all that far removed from Coop that you can't appreciate what is happening right now, NC wins be damned?

2-10-1 for Christs sake. We beat scUM, and whatever else happens, happens.

It's not the Buckeyes "possibly losing". The whole premise of the thing is that they WOULD lose.

Maybe BB can come back and clarify, again... :biggrin:
