Game Thread Wisconsin at tOSU, Oct 29th, 8 pm ET, ESPN

The thing that pi$$es me off most about this game is that I wanted "US" to be the ones to ruin their season, hence alot of the rude comments I made last saturday. They took us out at #1 last year, wanted to make this one hurt.:oh:

Anyway, blame it on the "scarlet colored glasses" but I believe somehow TOSU finds a way to win this game. The way I see it, first team to 16 wins. Kinda like:

TOSU- 16
Wisky- 13

Peace :io:
Two conference losses in a row is definitely going to hurt them. I wouldn't worry too much about inflicting pain if we can get the job done.

Because Wisconsin would essentially need to win out and have OSU lose another conference game to eliminate the head-to-head tiebreaker. And with Indiana, Purdue, Penn State, and Michigan on the schedule, I'm not sure I see that happening. So yes, an OSU win really puts Wisconsin behind the 8-ball.

This game worries me because MSU was in that game only because of outstanding passing... Cousins was on the money... bullets when he needed them and touch when he needed it...

Very true, but Wisconsin also failed to capitalize on a lot of staredowns (a major weakness Kirk has, and OSU capitalized upon), and gave up the bread and butter play to Keshawn twice for a TD, once where neither blocker had to even touch a defender, they just fell down in surprise... on the second variation of that play.

THIS.

Sparty used Keyshawn Martin quite a bit, and he isn't exactly stellar. More a speed guy ala' Devin Hester, than an actual WR.

I could see Bollman/co drawing up a few WR screens to take advantage of Wisconsins poor discipline and sideline to sideline speed.

Not to mention the fact that the RB's go 3 deep. Run Boom at em, then Jordan, then let Carlos clean up.

Cousins, IMO, wasn't "on" in their win. In fact, because of the Hail Mary that was caught, it is overlooked that on their last 2-3 drives he only went something like 1-5. They kept dropping back instead of running the ball, and it almost cost them.

If we can do the following three things, we win:

1. Protect against the deep ball. Sparty did a great job of this for 3-1/2 quarters. We need Roby/Howard on their game, as well as Barnett patrolling the middle.

2. Don't get caught giving Wilson running lanes. Remain disciplined, and as we saw against Sparty, he will make bad decisions with the ball. But giving up a 15-30 yard gain on a play in which you had great coverage is a killer.

3. Run effectively. Meaning, 4+ YPC. If we are consistently getting first downs on second, or leaving 2-3 yards on third, this is very winnable. Alternatively, Braxton cannot get sacked often. This team can't handle 3rd-10+ well at all.

Finally....here are the full uni's:

MSU was also able to run to the outside against them.

MSU pretty much held them in check until the 4th quarter. Wisconsin only had the first drive, and then got an easy score off of a fumble, and didn't do shit until the 4th. So I think MSU was in the game for reasons beyond Cousins.

Why can't we just break this shit out for games against Toledo and Akron?

The double reverse (plus a PA fake at the beginning) also decimated Wisconsin, when most teams have eaten that play alive.

Excellent comparison (obviously a poor man's version). Great athlete who happens to play receiver.

Pretty much every team has. I'm not sure what kind of speed you guys have around the edges, but that's definitely an area to exploit.
Not much. Nathan Williams is out for the year with injury. Jon Hankins is a freak of nature, but that's as a fleet of foot DT that slides inside & out.

John Simon & Adam Bellamy are both primarily run stoppers that line up outside as well.

Andrew Sweat is a prototypical OSU all-B1G linebacker, but the other two have struggled most of the time (Sabino & Klein). OSU has a very fast beanpole / heat seeking missile named Ryan Shazier who just started playing LB this spring (when he enrolled early from HS). His role has increased mildly as the season has gone on, but he is still incredibly green.

Tyler Moeller is a S/LB hybrid who has been retasked from blitzing & attacking to more of a coverage role.

We're talking about speed to the outside on offense.
