tOSU would not have gone to a bowl after the 1969 season, win or lose in AA. The 'no repeat' rule would have kept them home - but they would have won the NC without going to the bowl.

Your right BB73 - I stand corrected and wasn't that the year that Nixon gave the Trophy to the winner of the Texas Arkansas game. Wasn't that
in 69". I may be wrong here but it won;t be the first:)

Sadly, you're exactly right Kip. It was the week immediately after the 6 interception crap-fest in the bighouse.

Yeah as i watched that game of Texas and Arkansas, I wondered to myself If Ohio State would have won that game with Michigan in 69, would we have been the National Champion. They say Rex Kern was miserable the whole week after the Michigan game. At that time in my younger years I too was caught up in the fact that Ohio State was truley the team of the century as many of the Media had proclaimed. I figured that as I got older, my passion for Ohio State would lessen but it really hasn't. In fact it has intensified.

I watched The Championship Game again, taped the other night from eSPIN Classic. We don't win or even get to that game without Krenzel. I don't know that he would've been able to do anything with the Alley-gators, but he's definitely in my top two.

Troy Smith tops the list...Heisman and Michigan domination...

and Craig Krenzel...

He went 14-0...and even though the defense was huge...Krenzel made several plays that year, that directly resulted in the undefeated season...and unexpected national title.

Kern is probably really 1 or 2...but I gotta go with guys I've seen here...

Corny Greene and Troy Smith were a combined 5-0-1 vs. scUM. Troy won a Heisman Trophy. Corny was voted team MVP by his peers in 1975 over some guy named Griffin who happened to win his 2nd Heisman Trophy that year. You guys figure it out.
