Who will be tOSU's head coach on July 1, 2012? (betting closed)

In the eyes of the NCAA Meyer is a saint compared to Tressel, so he has that going for him.

Sure, his players may get arrested several times a month, but since no one gives a shit about things like breaking real laws as long as they are not against NCAA rules, I really think he could restore Ohio State's image nationally.

I know he has OSU connections, but the Urban Meyer to OSU theorists might notice a picture of Woody on Urb's wall during his Gameday segment. Someone call Scully and Mulder.....

He's had a picture of Woody up for decades. And, fwiw, Urban's Buckeye background is a LOT more than connections.

I guess I need to find a way to show sarcasm better when I post  .... For several weeks on 850 KNR people would be calling saying Bill Cowher bought a house near Cleveland and he was going to coach the Browns. I was going more for that angle...

This may be a fruitful discussion topic now or in the near future.

Absolute Lead-Pipe Cinch for Success*

Pete Carroll
Nick Saban

Success Seems Highly Likely but Small Doubts Remain

Urban Meyer
Bill Cowher
Mike Leach
Bobby Petrino

Likely Would Be Successful

Chris Peterson
Gary Patterson
Mack Brown
Les Miles
Randy Edsall
Tony Dungy

Interesting; Could Be Home-Runs or Busts

Bob Stoops
Gus Malzahn
Jimbo Fisher
Al Golden
Mark Mangini
Tom Cable
Luke Fickell
James Franklin (Vanderbilt)
Dana Holgerson
Dan Mullen
Bob Neilson (current Minnesota-Duluth)
Larry Kehres
Mike London
Jon Gruden
Mark Dantonio
Bo Pelini
Skip Holtz
Pat Fitzgerald

All the Others (do not want)

*success, as defined by Buckeye faithful, would constitute at least semiannual conference championship and nearly annual competition for national title - i.e., Tressel-like

I've excluded NFL coaches who are currently employed in stable, successful positions, but no one else. Carroll is not yet successful as an NFL coach, so in my mind he's on the list (not that I especially want him here).

I hadn't thought about Pete. The Seahawks definitely aren't turning into something fantastic any time quick even though they're in a shit division. However, he did just turn 60. That may or may not be a factor as he appears to be a "young 60", but it's still a consideration.

Carroll is a great coach but after what happened at USC, I would have to put him on my, Do Not Want list.
