Who will be Penn State's HC on Feb 2, 2012? (Note - don't merge old posts)

I was thinking Gary Pinkel

I would be in favor of this. Pinkel is a decent recruiter but a terrible game-day coach. He would do well enough to keep Penn State relevant, but he would find a way to choke enough games that they wouldn't be a threat.

I hate them as much as anyone but PSU is always just the right coach away from being consistently good again.

They have the tradition, resources and in state talent base. If a guy can come in and reestablish them in their old PA/east coast recruiting grounds he could do well for himself.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but PSU hasn't been a major player in western PA and especially Ohio (outside of legacies) in years. On top of that, the SEC is seemingly hitting the east coast pretty hard of late.

Re-establishing themselves recruiting wise in any of those areas may be easier said than done... especially without the name Paterno to throw around.

On top of all of that, they may have nice facilities, but their location in the middle of nowhere plays against them as well (see: Pryor's comments).
