Who will be Penn State's HC on Feb 2, 2012? (Note - don't merge old posts)

Clay Travis' opinion as an attorney is not remotely relevant. True, he graduated law school, but his coin has come from radio & journalism. Unless you want to count the brief year of practice in the US Virgin Islands.

I'd trust the word of a lawyer practicing in PA, but not that of a fellow who either couldn't hack it in court, or quickly left the profession for greener pastures after 12 months of struggle.

(See the discussion 'twixt Lightning Rod, sepia and others in the Sandusky thread for some interesting restrictions on liability - sucks, but it is interesting).

Why would anybody want it?

No doubt. I still think Schiano would still crawl through barbed wire for this job. Al Golden (a State Penn alum) is used to turmoil. After a clean sweep of everyone at State Penn, he might consider it. At least I don't think there will be any sanctions from the NCAA at State Penn.

The main sticking point to taking this job was nobody wanted to be the coach to follow the legend so as to be compared to him. Anyone they bring in will look great in comparison now.

They care about longevity at Penn State. This guy will be able to stick around longer:

Ferentz? Fitzgerald?

I can't imagine why Fitzgerald would leave his alma mater to take a different Big Ten job. No reason for Ferentz to bolt there, either.

I don't see any established head coach who already has a job choosing to follow Joe Pa, unless they are an alumnus of PoSU coaching at an obviously inferior program.

Besides if Ferentz leaves Iowa, he leaves his B10 Coach of the Year auto-bid.

I don't have any malice towards the man, but when did Jeff Rapp become the "expert" or "source" regarding both the Ohio State and Penn State coaching searches.

He was on 610-AM speaking about both searches Tuesday.
