Who else is going to be glued to ABC tonight? (Lost)

I just hope that, for my friends sake, they actually do tie all of the loose ends. Also, that they don't end it as something really stupid, like a dream sequence, or a time machine that goes back to before the crash and prevents it.

He's spent so many hours watching and rewatching this show. When I mention to him that they might end it in those scenarios, he fucking flips out something crazy. It's actually quite enjoyable

Okay, so after last night, I'm ready to give my final assessment of what is going on with the show and how I predict it will end (in a few months we can see how wrong I was):

The show is really about a game being played between two higher beings, Jacob and anti-Jacob (i.e, smoke monster, fake Locke, whatever). The game is something similar to backgammon or perhaps senet (considering the Egyptian tie-ins). All of the characters we know are pieces on the game board. The reason we see so many players die and come back to life, or leave the island only to return, is that just like in backgammon, although they are removed from the board and placed on the bar, they can be returned to the board under the right circumstances.

In the version of backgammon being played by Jacob and anti-Jacob, they also are pieces on the board. When anti-Jacob was able to move the Ben piece to take out Jacob, he thought he had removed Jacob from the board. However, Jacob anticipating this move had orchestrated his pieces to create a second game board where he still existed--this second game board is the alternate reality we saw last night where Jacob resides in the foot under the ocean. Thus, when we saw the Sayid piece removed last night, it was first assume that he was gone for good because Jacob was no longer around to take him off the bar and put him back on the board--that Jacob appeared to Hurley was a hint that this was not the case. The revival of Sayid at the end of last night was Jacob acting safely from the second board, but still being able to make moves on the first board.

Now, I'm not sure how this game will be finally resolved--especially how the two boards will reconnect into one board--but my guess is that the show ends with all but two of the pieces off the board having either died for good (stuck on the bar) or getting off the island (the board) once and for all. The two remaining pieces will be Jacob and anti-Jacob, using Jack and Locke as their new avatars, starting a new game on the island's beach with a ship or plane off in the distance, much like what we saw at the beginning of last year's final episode.

Admit it, you didn't come up with all of that on your own, you got a lot of it off of spoiler sites, especially the part about senet b/c I 've seen that written by people myself.

I'm not sure how much he could've gotten off a spoiler site. According to Jorge Garcia (Hugo Reyes), the actors don't even get the script until the week before taping in order to eliminate secrets being leaked.
If I had to guess, I'd say that they're only 3/4's through taping the season so the finale script hasn't been handed out yet (or maybe even completely written).

Either way, I hope it doesn't contain spoiler info :(

The idea that LOST is a game is not my own, but I've agreed with the idea since the beginning of season four--though I originally thought it was a game between Ben and Widmore.

Everything else is a cobbling together of my own thoughts as an avid fan and putting my own interpretation on a few ideas I've seen on message boards.

As for Senet (warning nerd alert), I did come up with that on my own. You have to play a game of Senet against an Egyptian spirit entity in Tombraider 4 (and you know from our days in college that I'm a huge fan of the Tombraider series), so I've known about the game and its hypothesized connections to backgammon for some time.
