Who else is going to be glued to ABC tonight? (Lost)

I'm not sure how much he could've gotten off a spoiler site. According to Jorge Garcia (Hugo Reyes), the actors don't even get the script until the week before taping in order to eliminate secrets being leaked.
If I had to guess, I'd say that they're only 3/4's through taping the season so the finale script hasn't been handed out yet (or maybe even completely written).

Either way, I hope it doesn't contain spoiler info :(

No worries Mr. Eko. I do not look at spoilers from the show. It is simply a cobbling together of my own ideas and some that I have read over at LOST - MyMedia-Forum.com

The idea that LOST is a game is not my own, but I've agreed with the idea since the beginning of season four--though I originally thought it was a game between Ben and Widmore.

Everything else is a cobbling together of my own thoughts as an avid fan and putting my own interpretation on a few ideas I've seen on message boards.

As for Senet (warning nerd alert), I did come up with that on my own. You have to play a game of Senet against an Egyptian spirit entity in Tombraider 4 (and you know from our days in college that I'm a huge fan of the Tombraider series), so I've known about the game and its hypothesized connections to backgammon for some time.

That's an interesting theory. I've heard people talking about it being just a game between good and evil before, but never in terms of a board game like you're talking about.

What's interesting though is that in interviews, the producers/writers/whoever those guys are keep talking about how the show is really all about the characters and the decisions they make and how it affects their lives and the lives of others around them. So is it about the game...or is it about the characters we've all come to love or hate? :)

Who knows. I think the ending may surprise us all. Regardless, it's a very fun show to watch and I think it's awesome that they set a definite end date and that they decided to not just make crap up as they go along, but rather to decide ahead of time how they wanted it to end. So many shows these days get dumber and dumber as the writers seem to run out of ideas. Lost doesn't have that problem.

I don't see how they can tie up all of the loose ends in these last two episodes, or at least the ones that most people care about. Last night's episode wasn't very efficient in that regard, but other than that, I liked it.

At first I was underwhelmed by last night's episode. However, the more I think about it, the more I like it. For me, the change in perspective is the possibility that Jacob's brother did not become the smoke monster, but that it already existed and was released after Jacob tossed his brother into the light. The smoke monster, whatever it is, is not Jacob's brother, but took his form after his brother's death--then again, I could be wrong.

Plus, I was glad to see the Senet connection!

Since it took Locke's body but a separate dead body of Locke still exists, and since Jacob's brother was lying dead next to his own 'mother', that was the only conclusion I could draw.

Didn't you get the impression that the 'mother' may have also been the smoke monster while she was alive? That would explain how she wiped out the village where Jacob's brother lived, and why she knew to tell Jacob not to go into the cave with the bright light.

I think the crazy lady was definitely the smoke monster, and also protector. The twins were split when Jacob tossed him in the light, making Jacob the protector of the light source, and the (for whatever reason) unnamed guy as the protector of the island/escapist.

I didn't like the episode much until the end, but on second thought I think it was an episode that had to be done.

I'm still confused as to why MIB in current time sees the young Jacob following him around the island. I thought only the smoke monster could take the shape of dead people?

I don't buy the idea that the woman was the smoke monster. I think she was the guardian of the island and had trapped the smoke monster in the light. Someone entering the cave of light is what freed it from its captivity--thus, why she had warned Jacob to never go into the light as it would be worse than death, and why she stopped her other son from opening the wall into it.

I have to admit though that the destruction of the well and village does seem a bit too much for her to accomplish on her own. However, I don't think we know what all of her powers as guardian were.

OK... this is confusing as usual.

1. We know Jacob didn't kill the umm... kid in black, whatever we're calling him. He can't.

2. And we know that the smoke monster can't kill Jacob. (couldn't, whatever) which leads me to believe that the smoke monster is MORE kid in black/Jacob's brother than he is locke... for example. Point being that on some level, the smoke monster is Jacob's brother before all else. Since there's one thing he could do, even when he was locke or in any other form.

So...

I'm not buying that the woman was the smoke monster earlier... and... I'm leaning toward the idea that Jacob...created the smoke monster by floating the kid in there....

Not really the "birth" of the smoke monster or the death of his brother, as much as a transformation by the "light"

How the bitch killed the villagers, dunno...

I would be open to the idea that the smoke monster did it and then takes attributes from those he assumes the shape of (he has locke's memories and that kind of stuff so, ehn locke's not really dead either)

Also, Jacob, as protector didn't seem to have power over smoke thing really, it killed who it wanted... although, maybe he just didn't care.

I'm just disappointed with the explanation of "The Light." I don't think we really got many answers at all, just more questions.

I like the idea, buckeyegrad, that Mother had trapped Smokey down there in the light and now the other brother's body released it. By the way it exploded out of there, Smokey looked really excited to escape. LOL!

What I found strange was how reluctant and confused Jacob seemed to be about taking on the role of protector. Now that Mother is gone, how on earth does he get his information about what he's there to do and how to do it? (ie traveling off island to visit our Losties, and how to use his powers and what the Light really is and how to choose candidates...) Maybe everything that's happened since Mother died is simply Jacob's game. (Remember when they were playing Sennet and the brother told Jacob that one day he could make up his own game with his own rules?) I don't know. Just seems like so much left to figure out in only a few short weeks left of the show. I think the writers will leave us with an awful lot of unanswered questions.

question for you Lost fans: How is this show still on t.v.? How long can you possibly drag out a show about a plane crashing and being stranded on an island? and what season is this now? (I'm not about to read through this thread to find out) I stopped watching after like the 1st or 2nd season where every 4th show they would have a recap show just to show you what you have already seen the previous 3 shows, wasting an hour of my time. For those of you that have stuck this thing out: BETTER U THAN ME!!!! They are all going to wake up and it is all going to be just a dream....lol
