Who else is going to be glued to ABC tonight? (Lost)

Oh, and yes, really good episode last night. I'm glad to see they were getting back to the basics. I hope they keep it up.

Agreed. Last night was the type of episode that got me absolutely hooked. It looks like the show is finally back on track. Now if we can just get 24 good again...

Another great episode tonight. I was expecting the smoke cloud to be the killer of the two, but was wrong. Can't believe the twist at the end in that they weren't dead, but ended up being buried alive!

I think only Nikki was buried alive, Paulo got mulled by all those spiders.. at least that is what I assumed.

The episode tonight was decent, it really didn't do much to further the plot any, other than Paulo knew about Ben and the Others before anyone else.

You're correct that the plot wasn't advanced, but I can forgive that since I thought the episode was creative and played on two of my favorite themes in storytelling: 1) providing a different perspective on a story we already know, and 2) ironic justice, even if it was done in a very campy sort of way--this episode reminded me of a Twilight Zone or Tales from the Crypt type of story.

Last night's epi made me think about the previously dismissed "purgatory" idea .... Seems to me Nikki and Paulo met their doom owing to "Greed"

Other thing I noticed was before the spiders came to paralyze Nikki, the sound of "the monster" was clicking its way around the jungle. Plus, a lot of the charecters made it a point to talk about "the monster."

Seems to me that "the monster" isn't always black smoke.

I agree 100%--this episode was great for basically being filler, although I was thinking Alfred Hitchcock.

Not a bad show at all, not as good as the last two but a good filler none the less. I think it is funny that people keep so many secrets on the island. With all the crazy stuff that has happend you would think people would be open with information... but that wouldn't make for good tv I guess :-).

I thought they were alive the whole time. I just sensed it because of the way they looked with their eyes were open, and without Jack there nobody did a good verification. When I saw the flashback with the HS sciemce teacher and his spider in the jar, I knew that was the source of the paralyzing toxin.

I was surprised they got buried alive, though.

Hang on a second. The more I think about this, the more I disagree with it. Isn't purgatory a place where you go to atone for your sins and wait until you are pure to enter heaven? If so, people "die" and leave the island once they have achieved purification, not while they are still working out and committing their past transgressions.

I didn't like the eipisode very much cause it just seemed to go no where. Granted I havnt seen every episode of the show (I watched on and off for the 1st couple seasons, and later watched most of season 1 on DVD and I've watched all of season 3) but I just didnt care what happened to the characters who died.

But next week.... cat fight!

I just meant that they are in some state between living and dead, heaven and hell, and they don't "resolve" their fate until they are "judged" by the "Monster" and dispatched up (Heaven) or down (Hell)... Nikki and Paulo went "down" Ecko, maybe went up....

Nikki opening her eyes right as the shovel of dirt in thrown on her face was definitely Hitchcockian (is that the right word?).
Not unless paolo was giving her one under the sand which would pop her eyes open
I don't watch shows without plots, my wife does. this show has one purpose and that is to sell DvD's later lol. Ok, and to make people guess what the show is all about.
