Not true. Interlocking or overlapping has no bearing in how you shape a golf shot.
Not true. your hands work as more of a unit using the overlapping thus causing less rotation of the hands coming through the shot. interlocking the opposite. I shot 67 last time I played how bout you?
But can you hit a golf ball 150 yards down the fairway one handed while holding a beer in the other hand? I didn't think so. :p
I'm thinking about leaving work early today and gripping the golf club for a few hours!
Btw, most people do select a grip based on their hand and finger size. For people with large fingers and hands Interlocking takes their left palm off the grip causing a feeling of insecurity on the club. (which in turn can cause grip pressure problems)
If you have large hands try switching to an overlapping grip, but more importantly try to have a pro or a VERY good golfer take a look at your grip to make sure your hands are in the correct position.
Out of all the lessons I teach most people have a general idea of the grip but screw up where the pad of the top hand rests and how the hands reside on the club. (one hand too strong, the other too weak, etc). Now that is the most important aspect of a golf grip.
Then there's grip pressure and wrist flexibilty which directly infuence how the club rotates through the swing and how you well set the club (which relates to distance and accuracy).

How many times have I been told "hey I played ok today and shot a 73 today" but when I play golf with that person and make them play by the rules of golf they shoot 93?
Agree, fluffing the ball up in the fairways, dropping instead of rehitting from the tee when a shot goes out of bounds etc....
