could be. I am just going by what my dad said. When I started learning to play my dad taught me both grips and said to use what was more comfortable. I used the interlocking and my dad said "not a bad choice. Jack Nicklaus uses the interlocking"

He could have been lying though, like he did about the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause

You mean he told you the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus also use the interlocking grip?
Nicklaus has always used the interlocking grip. tiger definitely does, too. hardly any other tour players do, though.

If you interlock, make sure not to interlock too far (i.e. all the way to the base of your fingers - really you should not let the "knocking knuckles" go past each other) If you take your grip, then lift the club over your right shoulder so you can see your knuckles (your knocking knuckles are the middle joint, not the knuckle you would punch someone with) they should almost line up in a straight line (not counting the two fingers which are interlocking)

Advice like that could ruin my game. Mine ain't broke, so I ain't fixin'. :p

Nicklaus used the interlock becuase he has short stubby fingers. i was taught that if you hook the ball try overlap and if you have a hard time getting the club face closed try the interlocking grip. i use overlap now becuase in high school i had a wicked hook, but when i switched it got ten times better.

Overlapping
Avon Pro DX2 Grip (knock off of the Golf Pride Multicompound grip - made in the same factory)
.580 Core, Built up 1/16th for the entire grip and built up another 1/16th for the right hand.

Not true. Interlocking or overlapping has no bearing in how you shape a golf shot.

Btw, most people do select a grip based on their hand and finger size. For people with large fingers and hands Interlocking takes their left palm off the grip causing a feeling of insecurity on the club. (which in turn can cause grip pressure problems)

If you have large hands try switching to an overlapping grip, but more importantly try to have a pro or a VERY good golfer take a look at your grip to make sure your hands are in the correct position.

Out of all the lessons I teach most people have a general idea of the grip but screw up where the pad of the top hand rests and how the hands reside on the club. (one hand too strong, the other too weak, etc). Now that is the most important aspect of a golf grip.

Then there's grip pressure and wrist flexibilty which directly infuence how the club rotates through the swing and how you well set the club (which relates to distance and accuracy).

Sounds like you'll be a busy man at the outing next week. :p

Maybe I don't understand the overlapping grip, but it just doesn't feel right in my hands.
